As we work together, there may be laughter and there may be some tears, and that is okay! I have experience to address trauma, depression, anxiety, as well as parenting and other family challenges.
Sometimes all the pieces just do not seem to fit. Asking for help can be difficult, even overwhelming. But, reaching out is the most courageous first step, a step that can literally change the trajectory of your life. I offer a safe, non-judgmental place for you to be heard, to explore all the pieces, and to sort through your thoughts and feelings. I recognize you as the expert on your own life and consider it an honor to walk with you through your story.

Are you struggling with anxiety or having a tough time motivating yourself to do anything? Are relationship issues or the grief of losing a loved one weighing on you? You are not alone in experiencing these feelings. Unfortunately, many individuals avoid dealing with their anxiety and negative emotions, which can lead to deteriorating mental health. However, imagine what your life would be like if you did work through these feelings. What if you could experience long-term change or find relief from painful past experiences? Picture yourself regaining control, improving your relationships, and getting to the root of your challenges.

At times, we need perspective, support, and guidance to navigate the world in which we live. I believe there is something to learn from everyone and I would be honored to assist you or your loved one in the journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing. From a young age, I have always been passionate about helping others. My passion for people and connection led me to earning a degree in counseling. My journey was greatly impacted when I was personally diagnosed with cancer. Determined to help others see the same hope and healing, I wanted to use my experience to bring someone else out of their own darkness.

My specialties include fostering interpersonal growth, managing anxiety self-esteem, and navigating relational topics, both romantic and platonic.
Growing up in the era of social media is quite exhilarating. Memes, photos, and funny videos are just a few clicks away, but they also fuel unrealistic beauty standards and a comparison mindset. If you're here, you may feel unworthy, anxious, or defeated due to not feeling "good enough" to replicate what you see online. If this is you, I want you to know that the only healthy competition in life is between you against you. My name is Toni, and I'm therapist who loves working with people who feel overwhelmed by all the societal and intrapersonal pressures placed on our lives.

Experiencing hurdles in life such as challenging relationships, family life issues and concerns about the direction of your career are normal, but can leave you feeling anxious, depressed, frustrated or angry. So many of our problems come down to not having enough insight into how our minds work; what we want, what we fear, why we act the way we do, and why we are overwhelmed by certain feelings. I believe that every person who seeks counseling has their own answers to their unique situations and my job is to facilitate finding those answers.

I work with individuals experiencing symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and have extensive work history with survivors of DV & Crimes.
Sooner or later we all come to a point where a bit of support, evaluation, insight, and collaboration may be beneficial to us. Relationships, loss, grief, trauma, adjustment to changes in life (whether they be positive or negative), workplace stress, and so much more are only some of the things that can bear impact on our daily lives, functioning, and emotional health... So, if you are ready to reevaluate some aspects of your life and seek support via collaboration, you’ve come to the right place, and I thank you for your initiative, time, and consideration.

Many clients seek therapy to heal from interpersonal trauma. Very frequently they do not understand what this or how it has affected their lives. Interpersonal trauma is a type of trauma that involves harm to a person by another. Survivors are frequently left feeling confused and unsafe in relationships. This can result in isolation, health problems, depression, and anxiety. People who have experienced mistreatment frequently need to identify negative patterns, communicate their standards, and set boundaries.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
