I come to this profession with a drive to bring forth honesty, self-discovery, and self-compassion with each person I work with. At my core, I see therapy as a transformational process that helps people to become empowered and unburdened. Through a process of safely unearthing, re-wiring, and re-writing our lived experience, therapy can bring about a shift of perspective that can have a ripple effect of positive changes in someone's life. As your therapist, I use a psychodynamic, strengths based approach in our work together. I take this process and your time very seriously, as it can be a life changing investment in yourself.

I meet my clients where they are, in the framework that serves their presenting concern the most effectively. Adjustment to a transition, relationship challenges, onset of a mental illness, or peaks and valleys of mental illness management can disrupt or interrupt functioning in a variety of areas. A therapeutic relationship can deepen understanding and skills to move through a moment. A therapeutic relationship can build acceptance and integration of something that will always be part of our makeup.

While I enjoy working with a variety of individuals, I specialize in helping adults suffering from anxiety and relational dissatisfaction to find peace. Above all I provide an environment where you will feel safe and seen, so you can process your own unique pain and ultimately find healing.

My framework for practice comes from a relational and psychodynamic lens, allowing us to discuss the current burdens or challenges you face, while also looking at how our past impacts us currently.
Are you really hard on yourself? Do you often see the world as very black and white, right or wrong? Have you been called a perfectionist? Do these qualities put a strain on your relationships? It is exhausting to try to measure up to these expectations that the world puts on us, or even worse, that we put on ourselves. By engaging in a therapeutic relationship, my hope is for you to find self-compassion and freedom.

I offer an attuned therapeutic approach from the best of systemic therapy, attachment science, and psychodynamic therapy to help you develop fulfilling relationships, heal past wounds, and co-author with you a life story you want to live.
There are so many reasons you may be interested in therapy. You may find yourself in a season where you want deeper connection, or just have a feeling something needs to change. You may be in a relationship that seems stuck in a distressing pattern of conflict and are looking for hope. You may notice yourself reacting, escaping, or coasting through life. You are not alone. One of the most courageous and sacred things we can ever do is to open up to someone we trust and let them speak into our life. That is what I'm here for.

Often in an attempt to finish "unfinished" business, we reenact unresolved issues in hopes of a better outcome finding ourselves face to face with the mountain of pain looming large in our past. I specialize in treating individuals, couples, and groups struggling with addiction, compulsive behaviors, depression, trauma, and related issues. If you struggle with addiction, I use emotionally connective and psychodynamic therapy to help you reach abstinence and then recovery, pre or post rehab. If you are struggling with the out-of-control substance abuse merry-go-round, we can work together to improve your life.

It’s getting harder and harder to get out of bed and face the day. You are tired of fighting an invisible wall that's keeping you stuck. Tired of perfectionism and imposter syndrome. Tired of neglecting your own needs, of making yourself smaller. You feel guilt when you take time for yourself and feel overwhelmed with demands. Difficult memories and feelings come to the surface more and more and you aren’t sure how to handle it all on your own. You aren't sure how to stop turning back to unhealthy habits and unfulfilling relationships. You want to feel good about your life again. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.

I am a relationship therapist, which includes the relationship we all have with ourselves. My goal is to help you feel safe as you discuss your most difficult and emotionally charged thoughts and feelings. l am excellent at identifying the deeper issues and I give homework that is focused on symptom relief. Arguments and heated discussions between two or more people allow me to see and understand the underlying dynamics that keep people stuck. I am good at separating the issues and empowering each individual which allows the relationship to grow and change in a more satisfying way.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
