Currently accepting new clients! Throughout our lives we all experience situations that can shake us to our very core and leave us feeling helpless and out of control. These situations can include trauma, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, anger or crisis. The good news is that we don't have to remain helpless and out of control! It is my passion to help individuals make sense and process the situation or trauma that they are in to become fully healthy.

At times, we can feel totally overwhelmed...that our life has become out of control. We realize our pain and fears have begun guiding our lives or we may find ourselves in situations/ relationships we never thought we'd be in...perhaps a result of a traumatic event, perhaps a spouse/ parent/ other made hard choices and you are trying to pick up the pieces (i.e., depression, loss of purpose), or you have made the tough decisions and are now dealing with addiction, anxiety, etc. This pain and disruption may seem overwhelming, but from it we have the opportunity to heal, become stronger & learn more about ourselves and about God.

Everyday people are faced with a variety of life challenges such as anxiety, depression, loss, career decisions and relational issues. These challenges can be both expected and unexpected. We try to prepare for the trials of life but no matter how much we try, we still feel unequipped. People want to feel supported, heard, and ready to face all the experiences of life.

Reaching out takes great courage, especially when someone is seeking guidance. Life has the tendency to cause people to cope in ways that are not necessarily beneficial. They may develop problems like depression or anxiety as a result of stressors. Or, they may turn towards abusing substances as a way to change how they feel. Reaching out for help during this time may be scary and seem impossible. My goal, as a therapist, is to come alongside my clients so that they don’t walk alone through whatever may be troubling them. I hope to be able to help anyone struggling to deal with life on life’s terms.

YOU are a priority! My desire to serve others is connected to many personal, and professional life experiences that allow me to have a unique perspective in understanding where my clients and their loved ones are coming from. I am a firm believer that with the right tools and some determination, we can challenge our negative thought processes and overcome anything. No one is hopeless. As Albert Einstein once said, “In the middle of every difficulty, lies opportunity.”

At times everyone deals with anxiety, depression, stressors, and life transitions.
It takes courage to take the first step and reach out for help. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where you are able to share your story. My goal is for you to feel honored, valued and heard. Maybe you are dealing with relationship concerns like a change in your family situation or concerns with a child. Maybe you or your child is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed or trying to overcome low self-esteem. Possibly, there are struggles with family, life transitions, friends or school. All of these topics can be tough but talking with someone can help. I would be honored to help you with any of your concerns.

Our experience of life may lead us to feel Distressed. Disappointed. Discouraged. Overwhelmed. Anxious. Burned out. Angry. Our friends and family may have given us their perspective, and yet we may feel that we just need another impartial, objective point of view. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, with over 20 years of experience overall, and 12 years in Private Practice, my primary objective is to provide a compassionate ear--and in that context--to provide Clients with useful tools and resources to assist them in experiencing a more satisfying quality of life.

From anxiety, depression, and trauma, to just the everyday dysfunctionality in relationships, or needing a safe place to talk things through, I will be a non-judgmental person to process things with and plan out goals to meet in the future.
I fight for my clients and gently challenge them to not give up but instead learn better coping mechanisms so they can get through the difficult times in their lives. This is how I invest in them. I will, however, move at your pace, and if you simply need a space to digest things, we may do so together while you discover more constructive methods to deal with trying circumstances.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
