Dr. Asawa is a co-founder of Missouri City Family Counseling, a private practice located in Missouri City. She provides consultation for families, educational workshops, and diagnostic evaluations for all ages.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I come from Taiwan with the ability to conduct counseling service in Mandarin and Taiwanese. I received my Master of education in counseling at the University of Houston-Victoria in Texas. I was trained in individual therapy, family therapy, career counseling, and group counseling. I received the Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) training at Taiwan mindfulness association. My experience includes in dealing with mood disorders, Anxiety, PTSD, family conflict, relationship problems, conduct problem, and personal development issues.

When life gives you challenges the process of managing those challenges can be real difficult. Having someone to process and find solutions to real life issues can be helpful and supportive. I have a very well rounded background in both adult and child therapy. I have worked with Oncology clients, clients in crisis, couples, families and children with different emotional needs. When I meet a client it is important to meet them where they are and develop a strong therapeutic relationship.

The clients I work best with are clients that are seeking a change for their current situation and come into session ready to work on that change. I prefer to see adult clients who have acknowledge they need some assistance with the issues they face and are willing to participate in the therapeutic process.

I am a licensed, board certified clinical psychologist and marriage and family therapist. In addition to my clinical practice with adults, couples and families, I am a professor in a doctoral level clinical psychology program. When working with individuals and couples, I begin with a thorough assessment of problem areas and strengths and then formulate a plan to address those issues using the latest, evidence-based treatment methods. Based on a thorough understanding of the interplay between thoughts, feelings and actions. The people I work with learn to replace self-defeating strategies with constructive alternatives.

I have a zeal for learning ways to inspire and help others. I came to Texas by way of the inner city of Northern New Jersey, and by the way of civil war ravaged Liberia in West Africa. I have learned that relationships continually call us to develop greater consciousness through shedding old beliefs and ways in order to grow. Relationships compel us to bring forth the light of awareness within all of us to engender the courage to be more of the deeper sense of who we are. My approach to counseling germinates from this disposition.

I have successfully taught children as early as those in Program Head Start, before becoming a Texas Teacher & School Counselor, and ultimately a LPC-Supervisor . As a child advocate who tries to understand the needs of the child in hopes of helping with mental or emotional turmoil. One may say or think that I specialize in treating children? This would be false, because I can't recall a situation where I could help the child without helping the parents, and even the whole family. Family history and dynamics plays a "Huge" role in your child's development and behaviors.

I care a great deal about my clients and want your therapy to be a healing experience. Self-reflection can be emotionally upsetting when past events and their associated primal wounds are uncovered. We will work through these darker moments at a pace that you feel comfortable with. Relationships impact us, often times more than we realize. I am a 1st generation Taiwanese-American immigrant who came to the US as an adolescent. I can conduct therapy in fluent Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese, and English. I am a full-time self-employee and mother of 2. I changed careers from Engineering B.S, to Business M.M., to Counseling/Behavioral Science M.Ed. therapy. I worked at MIT, and I am currently working on my Ph.D in Clinical Sexology. I empathize with work life balance issues, stress/time management, and career transition/satisfaction. My name is Cristina Lima and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Board Certified in Neurofeedback. I have a PhD in Counseling. Besides my educational background, I have more than 23 years of professional counseling practice. I'm not even counting the several years of informal "counseling" with adults and teenagers that would request a ''moment of my time'' to discuss their personal issues - prior to even graduating from my bachelor's in psychology! Helping others is a passion that I have carried along for years - and keeps growing in me as I grow in my profession.
