It was during college that I first experienced the counseling profession as a client. At that time, I struggled with an eating disorder and anxiety. Thanks to great counseling, I fully recovered. It's there that I developed a passion for sharing my experience. I am able to meet clients where they are in their journey because I understand the process of healing. I walk alongside with hope and encouragement.

We often feel the pressure to appear we have it all together when deep inside we are fighting a battle within. This journey that you are on, no longer has to be walked alone. What is your approach to therapy? I commend you for acknowledging your pain and seeking out ways to help yourself. I provide individual therapy to young adults, adults and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and life transitions.

We all have inner wisdom which holds the answers to our questions. At the center of our beings we know who we are and what we want but getting there can sometimes be difficult. Using sound innovative psychotherapeutic techniques I work with my clients towards their goals. Whether I work with individual, couples, families, or groups, I understand the importance of a healthy relationship, excellent rapport, non-judgment, honesty and the need for confidentiality in working towards these goals. Our clients are people who struggle with everything from depression to being Empty Nesters. Some are having marriage problems or recently got a divorce. There are those who have been caring for a love one for a long time and are overwhelmed by the responsibilities. Regardless of the struggles, each of our clients want help. They want the pain and suffering to go away.

I specialize in couples counseling and adult relationships. I have been doing couples work since 1977 and also have experience teaching graduate students in Marriage and Family Counseling. Courses included Separation, Divorce and Remarriage as well as Introduction to Marriage and Family Counseling. Previously I was Director of the Counseling Center at University of Houston where I had a staff of Psychologists and trained Psychologists.

Stacey is a nationally certified counselor who holds three separate counseling licenses. Her eclectic and integrative approach infuses encouragement with psychotherapy techniques, like cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies. Stacey’s patients should expect some laughter and believe merriment is a great healer. Over the last 15 years, Stacey has worked in forensic settings and learned the value of treating the whole person.

Since 2018, I have had the greatest pleasure of serving individuals in the behavioral and mental health field where I have seen them make great leaps towards recovery. My previous experiences have allowed me to aid individuals overcome major adversities. “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves” is a quote by Victor Frankl that has guided me along my journey in the counseling field. Above all, I want to provide a welcoming and safe space with enough room for growth for each of my clients.

Life has its challenges. There are ups, downs, and sometimes, life can just feel like a roller coaster ride. During these moments, it is important for us to take a step back, and take an inner journey to re-connect, re-discover ourselves, and foster healing. When life gives you challenges the process of managing those challenges can be real difficult. Having someone to process and find solutions to real life issues can be helpful and supportive. I have a very well rounded background in both adult and child therapy. I have worked with Oncology clients, clients in crisis, couples, families and children with different emotional needs. When I meet a client it is important to meet them where they are and develop a strong therapeutic relationship.

For individual, couples, adults and teens, the pursuit of ones therapeutic goals is a deeply personal endeavor, one that entails time, effort, occasional discomfort and some expense. I am keenly aware of the burden of trust, inherent in my participation in so intimate and earnest an undertaking, and will apply my clinical judgment, professional acumen, interpersonal skills and 35-years of experience, to discern and address those needs. The clients I work best with are clients that are seeking a change for their current situation and come into session ready to work on that change. I prefer to see adult clients who have acknowledge they need some assistance with the issues they face and are willing to participate in the therapeutic process.

After completing my Bachelor's of Psychology at the University if Monterrey, Mexico, I began specialized training at the Child Analytic Study Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I also completed a Master's in Education and Psychology. I moved to Houston and while raising my four children I founded Mexican Women's Initiative, a non-profit organization focusing on organizing Latin women to provide services for the Latin community. I then joined two other Latin psychotherapists to create the "Centro para el Desarrollo para la Mujer", an educational forum for Latin women.

On the road of life there are twists and turns, hills and valleys, and at times you may feel lost and all alone, or don't know which way to go. Help is only a telephone call or e-mail away. I use solution-focused brief and cognitive behavior therapies in therapeutic collaboration with adolescents, individual adults and couples to facilitate and promote change in their lives.
