If you suffer from chronic pain or chronic anxiety, life can be quite miserable.
The clients I have seen in my practice typically live in a stressful and ever-changing world where life can be demanding, confusing, and overwhelming. You do your best to cope but nothing seems to work out. Maybe what you need is a break from the vicious cycle so you can think more clearly. Maybe having someone to listen and validate your experience is what you need. Maybe you are looking for new ideas. What ever it is, you don’t have to journey alone – as your therapist, I am here to support you in your most difficult and overwhelming moments. Together we can find a solution. ..

I use evidence-based treatment modalities, including Neurologically Informed Cognitive Behavioral approaches, Clinical Hypnotherapy, EFT-Tapping, Somatic-Based Interventions, and Mindfulness to help individuals heal from Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD.
Are you experiencing physical and emotional symptoms that are unexplainable and preventing you from living a healthy, fulfilling life? If so, it may be a response to a painful experience. Adverse life experiences and how it impacts a person is unique to every person. Medical research has demonstrated for decades that survivors of accidents, disasters, and childhood trauma often endure life-long symptoms ranging from anxiety and depression to body syndromes, harmful behaviors, and addictions. While you can't change difficult situations of the past, you have the natural ability to recuperate from these painful experiences.

My name is Takisha Thibodeaux, LPC and it is my passion to support children and teens in learning ways to cope and work through anxiety, loss, the grieving process and traumatic events to promote healing hearts and minds.
As adults, we naturally want to protect children from the pain of loss or the traumatic experiences of life challenges. Children’s response to worries and struggles may cause heartbreak for parents and caretakers to witness firsthand sadness, big emotions, and concerning behaviors. Children and teens should not face the challenges and pain alone. They need support, guidance, and a safe place to process struggles. As a result of psychotherapy, facing struggles and challenges can help kids build determination, courage, coping skills and confidence.

Some of my experiences include Mood Disorders, Anxiety, ADHD, behavioral issues, trauma, suicide, grief, family conflicts, parenting problems, school adjustments and Adjustment Disorder.
“Imperfections are not inadequacies; they are reminders that we are all in this together” is one my favorite quotes from Brene Brown. I believe that the therapy is a collaborative experience between therapist and the client. I want to create a safe space for my clients to share their stories, be their authentic self, engage in creative expression and heal.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
