At each step of the way, I will be there guiding you, your child, or your teen along the journey to self discovery.
Life is filled with things to worry about. Sometimes those worries come from trauma or within yourself. For adults this could be irritability, anxiety, or fear. For children & teens these worries could even present as behavioral issues or in-school disturbances. Developing confidence, self-esteem, and positive thinking habits can be the key to unlocking a better reality. I want to help you build this confidence & self-esteem; I want to equip you with the tools to create positive thinking habits, overcome trauma, and inevitably help you to use all of these skills to overcome your worries.

I specialize in working with women and teen girls with past/present trauma. Living as a trauma survivor is not easy and can be exhausting. Does anxiety and depression seem to control your life or preventing you from pursuing your goals? Are you struggling with adverse childhood trauma? Are your relationships affected? Trauma is a complex and unique experience for each individual. You are not the same person you once were. I believe everyone deserves a safe and supportive space to work through life's challenges. It is understood that seeking therapy can be a difficult decision, but I am here to support you every step of the way.

For more than 10 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and couples in churches, schools, hospitals and private practice as a teen parent educator, teacher, school counselor (other duties: 504 Coordinator, RTI/IAT Liaison, Crisis Team Manager, and Behavior Specialist) and licensed therapist.
So many people bombard us with cliches like “Life is what you make it” or “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” when the unexpected happens or we lose control of situations and ourselves. Not only does this usually make us feel worse and/or not heard, we usually do not know what those sayings mean. I’m sure people typically mean well when using these phrases, however, we need practical remedies to the “cards we were dealt” in our personal lives. It’s rare that the average person listens to us, validates us, AND helps us process what’s happening so that we can wholeheartedly move on. As your therapist, I will be this person.

I believe that every client has the tools and knowledge necessary to improve their lives. This knowledge becomes hidden by the stress and responsibilities we face on a daily basis. My role as a therapist is to help you uncover those tools in order for you to live a more fulfilling life. If your family is facing a difficult challenge, if you need a different perspective on a situation, or if you are at a loss of what to do with your teen's behavior, I would be honored to help you throughout the process of positive change.

Your story matters! Everybody has a story and everybody can create a new story. I love to help people find their passion again, beginning in this very moment. Depression and anxiety have to do with a fear of the future, past experiences, or being on the edge of the unknown. The antidote is to live fully in the present through mindfulness of breathing and/or centering prayer; accepting what is. I would love to accompany you in travelling safely and calmly through your life transitions. Whether you are an adolescent, adult, married, divorcing, single, a survivor, I would feel honored to hear your unique story.

Child, Adolescent, Adult, Couple & Family.
Therapy is the process whereby an individual, couple or family becomes self-empowered and strengthened though developing an understanding of themselves and others fostered by love. It is how one explores their needs and goals or desires to promote emotional health and sense of well-being at any and every age. No one and nothing is one size fits all. Every person is unique and so will be our approach to helping ease the discomfort, worry and frustration. I am a strengths-based therapist. This means: look at what you are already doing "right" and build from there. You are always safe with me to say anything, literally. I will listen.

As your therapist I have the privilege of stepping into the story you find yourself in, curiously exploring it, help paint the picture of where you want to go, and together walk into that new reality. Life provides us with a mess of colors to paint a beautiful mosaic that we may never have envisioned. Whether you’re a teenager struggling to handle emotions, a young adult working through fears about your future and relationships, a couple facing a failed marriage, or a dad feeling like you can’t seem to get the fathering thing down, we can create that mosaic and find hope, freedom, and healing, if you’re up for it.

Having sexual concerns can be difficult to talk about and I want to create a safe place for you to discuss these challenges so that you feel empowered. If you're a victim of trauma it is not your fault, and I can help you take control of your sexual well-being. There can be a lot of shame around these topics, but addressing sexual discomfort can reduce stress and improve communication as you grow more comfortable in your sexuality. If you're a parent, I also want to help you normalize and understand what your teen is going through as sex and sexuality can be a topic we want to avoid.

Summer is here. Your teen seems to be doing ok, but you are worried school will be here sooner than later and are concerned about what the future holds. Your teenager is anxious, depressed, or a combination of both. They don't seem to be able to maintain focus, they lack motivation, and are under-perform in school. They might have suicidal thoughts, be self-harming, or have turned to the internet, alcohol or drugs to cope. But, they won't talk to you about what is happening. I can help. I speak TikTok, have tattoos, wear Vans, and listen to alternative music. I connect very well with adolescents and they open up to me.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
