I am a trauma therapist who utilizes effective trauma treatment therapies. I practice using EMDR, Somatic Experiencing Therapy, and now Safe and Sound Protocal . All approaches work with the mind, body, and emotions to help support the movement through trauma. Our bodies are holding containers that will hold onto trauma until there is a pathway for release. If you are finding yourself stuck without movement, traditional therapies not working, maybe this is a new path to check into. I am ready to work alongside you to help you get to where you would like to be.

Imagine coming to therapy, where you can unpack all your concerns, and be met with genuine care and zero judgment. Life sometimes seems like an exhausting or impossible challenge, especially when we face issues with mood, relationships, betrayal, trauma, health, transitions, addiction, grief and identity/faith crises. Sometimes, we don’t even know why we are struggling so much. If you feel like you are stuck in the past, fearful about the future, or simply overwhelmed, you have come to the right place. You don’t have to live this way! Hope, joy, peace and healthier relationships are potentially just around the corner!

Your peace doesn't have to be limited. The devastation of betrayal, abandonment, divorce, disease, or death can change you instantly. Perhaps resentment, depression and anxiety are interfering with the quality of your life. Is addiction keeping you in bondage? Is Post-Acute Withdrawal limiting your day to day functioning?Trauma keeping you from experiencing life? If anything is preventing you from getting to a healthy place, maybe it's time to examine what your next steps will be. Don't allow fear, work, and life's hustle to keep you from having peace. Find peace regardless of your circumstances. Life can get better!

Using Somatic Experiencing, I help clients discover "what their bodies have to say" about the things their minds may already know.
We are biologically wired from birth to need safe, accepting connections with others. When we get those, we develop openness to relationships and resilience to cope with life’s inevitable pain. If you lacked that support, patterns can develop that inadvertently keep you stuck in pain. These patterns can include self-criticism, worry, anger, lethargy, numbness, shame, guilt, fear of closeness, and more. My work focuses on helping people with past abuse and neglect rediscover their body’s innate ability to rebalance from stress, relate to themselves with more care, and relate to others more confidently and authentically.

I offer an integrative, holistic approach, including somatic psychotherapy, parts work, gestalt, mindfulness, and other modalities that support a healthy mind-body-spirit connection.
Life’s challenges can dredge up anxiety, anger, depression, fear, guilt, and shame, and we can seemingly lose our way. Life’s challenges also present opportunities for growth, deep healing, and the reintegration of lost parts of ourselves. In my work with clients, I provide a nurturing, supportive environment to express and explore challenging thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and outdated coping mechanisms. I help clients struggling with addiction, trauma, relationship issues, or who have lost touch with their general sense of aliveness. I aim to help clients experience greater freedom, vitality, joy, and well-being.

With training in Somatic Experiencing, I address trauma stored in the body, enabling authentic and safe connections and fostering overall well-being.
My ideal client is someone struggling with the impact of early attachment traumas that interfere with their ability to connect authentically and safely with others. They seek a trusted, compassionate space to understand how their brain and nervous system adapted to past circumstances, which now hinder their current relationships. Their goal is to heal these relational wounds through EMDR and other trauma-focused therapies, ultimately craving to feel seen, heard, and understood. They desire meaningful connections, believing that feeling safe with others is vital for a satisfying, healthy life.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
