So many people bombard us with cliches like “Life is what you make it” or “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” when the unexpected happens or we lose control of situations and ourselves. Not only does this usually make us feel worse and/or not heard, we usually do not know what those sayings even mean. I’m sure people typically mean well when using these phrases, however, we need practical remedies to the “cards we were dealt” in our personal lives.
