Whether it is EMDR for trauma or CBT to quell that inner critic, a solution is Possible.
Over the last 20 years working as a psychotherapist, I have found that, we all long to be truly seen, heard, and understood; to experience real connection and be known by others. When these needs are not adequately met, it affects us deeply and may manifest as depression, anxiety, and many times addiction. Sometimes traumatic events occur in our lives, and we have difficulties creating or maintaining relationships. I'm here to help clear the trauma of the past or guide you through challenges of the present. I will help guide you in a way that is collaborative and centered on your goals and desires.

We set up a sacred space to work that is reliable first and then seek out interventions that fit from body practices to EMDR to narrative work.
While I've worked with clients across a broad spectrum of needs and therapeutic goals I have most often found a fit with clients seeking change in their lives in the context of a collaborative relationship in therapy. I emphasize the importance of purpose in a person's life to provide motivation for practical change, leveraging both the internal resources someone already possesses and the potential to develop much more. I want to focus with a client on lifestyle and attention to the wisdom that resides in the mind, body, and spirit as a part of the immense human capacity to grow and change.

I am EMDR trained and able to conduct sessions virtually.
I am a therapist. Who ALSO has a therapist and has been through the process of finding/seeing therapists. I get it. It isn't easy but it is worth it. My view of counseling is simple, and based upon three core principles: authenticity, (being true to oneself), honesty, and growth. I seek to provide a nonjudgmental ear, and a supportive, safe presence. My goal is for you to feel heard as well as empowered by knowledge and skills to recognize your worth and embody change. I prefer working with adult clients who are ready and willing to put in work toward change and self-improvement.

Hey I'm Liz! I am happy you are here. I recognize that looking for the right therapist can be overwhelming. My hope is to make the process easier in anyway that I can. If you have found yourself on my page, I don't need to speculate about the hardships you have faced in your life. I don't want to make assumptions about what those hardships might be. I genuinely want to hear your voice and your story. I want to explore with you the pain that is preventing you from reaching your full potential, whatever that may be. Because I understand that if you are seeking a therapist, you have a unique story and a desire to heal.

As an EMDR-trained clinician and LGBTQ+ ally, I am committed to providing a safe and affirming space.
Do you often feel overwhelmed by worry, like you're treading water but not making any progress? Many of the clients I work with identify as perfectionists and high achievers. They’re tired—physically and emotionally—and are looking for a way to regain balance in their lives. They often wrestle with self-criticism, unsure if they're burned out or simply “lazy.” If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. My work focuses on helping clients find relief by nurturing self-compassion, deepening the mind-body connection, and reducing the distressing symptoms that impact their daily lives. In our sessions, your needs take center stage.

I am trained in EMDR and the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method, both interventions focus on supporting individuals to process trauma.
You are light. You are wisdom. You are deserving of experiencing moments of joy and relief. Pause....take a deep breathe. Exhale. That moment belongs to you. It is autonomous and free. Sometimes our walk through life can feel tiring. There are moments where we need support in carrying that weight as it can be confusing to understand all that we feel and why we are feeling it. Thank you for the moral courage to be here today investing in you. I work primarily with women who identify as BIPOC however I also work with men & older teens who identify as BIPOC. I am bilingual and provide therapy in English and Spanish.

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
