Life. Is. HARD. I personally feel like that isn’t talked about enough. I think we try to convince ourselves that we should not be struggling, or we feel guilty for struggling. Give yourself permission to vent and get some guidance. You need someone who will listen and not minimize your situation or your feelings. Asking for help does not mean that you are not capable of handling things on your own but sometimes it’s just easier to have someone listen and offer support. If you are struggling with figuring out this thing called life or you just had a change develop, I want to help you navigate those!

I integrate psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and logotherapy to help you build self-awareness and empower you to tackle your obstacles with courage and confidence.
When mental health is compromised, peace and stability can feel out of reach. Struggles are guaranteed in this life, but no one should have to suffer alone. If you find yourself lacking effective coping strategies, experiencing grief, constantly worrying, losing interest to live, or battling harmful behavior or thoughts, you may benefit from therapy. The goal of psychotherapy is to bring insight into why you act, think, and feel the ways you do so that you can grow into the person you're meant to be. This insight unlocks your ability to make lasting improvements in your behaviors, emotional stability, and relationships.

I am currently working on a PhD in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice and the integration of current neuroscience findings.
At some point we each hit up against an impasse in an important relationship or a disruption that requires more of us than we are able to navigate on our own. Working with a therapist to support what is most meaningful for your life creates new possibility. I work together with my clients to fully understand their unique life circumstances and support them in healthy development.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
