I am a bilingual, first-generation immigrant interested in diversity issues such as oppression, discrimination, and generational cultural challenges. I enjoy helping cross-culture individuals understand the stigma within communities when seeking mental health services. I am honored to help individuals from different backgrounds unwrap and comprehend what causes the mind and body to be distressed. Once you can differentiate the trigger from reality as an event in time, you can begin to shift from crisis to safety and find peace. You can learn how to manage your life and the challenges you face by applying skills learn in therapy.

Instead of focusing therapy on how to make individuals more "normal", I work with you to recognize your needs, plan for success, and treat the mental health diagnoses that often come alongside neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD.
Therapy is a working relationship, between therapist and client, to help you meet your individualized needs. I will be a good fit if your goals are to improve coping skills, better understand yourself, maintain healthy friendships, improve self-esteem, and manage everyday stress caused by work, school, or social environments. I have a personal understanding of how the effects of Autism and ADHD can affect mental health symptoms, like Depression and Anxiety. That said, there are many things to celebrate about being neurodivergent, which is why my therapy can involve "unmasking" or finding ways to be your true self.

I’ve been stuck and unaware of who I was or where I was going, especially when I realized I had ADHD.
Growing up as an only child in two culturally different households was tough. It feels like you’re always shape shifting to make everyone else more comfortable. Never getting a chance to relax into yourself. This left me on high alert, constantly second guessing all of my decisions. I didn’t know who I was, I was stuck feeling depleted and anxious to make any moves for fear I would seem foolish, or worse, fail. I became a therapist to help people who feel lost, whip those nagging voices in their head into shape. I'll help you challenge the unhealthy patterns you’ve gotten into because of doubt, shame, and believing the haters.

Adult ADHD is now an increasingly widespread and common occurrence. Some of our common great strengths include being sociable and spontaneous, and having resilience and empathy. Common struggles include forgetfulness, attention and impulse control, distractibility and procrastination. These struggles might contribute over time to lowered self-esteem, anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
