I have found Dialectical Behavioral to be effective in many areas.
Sometimes we can feel like we are settling for an unfulfilling life, yearning for freedom from the emotional pain that plagues us. We may feel that we are drowning in conflict, depression, and loneliness, as well as feeling scared and overwhelmed. Our wants and needs sound so simple, yet no matter what we do and what we try to change, it turns out to seem like it is just not that simple after all. We crave connection and intimacy, but sometimes our anxiety, sadness, fear, anger and relationships seem like obstacles to our goals, and the changes we want to make in our lives. Talking helps. There is hope, you are not alone.

My training background is in DBT (dialectal behavior therapy).
I am a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Air force veteran who profoundly cares about life experience. I graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. I am supervised by Jackson Wiggins LCSW-S. Life is hard, finding a good therapist shouldn't be. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe space for you. I am aware that no two people are the same, so I work closely with clients to explore their concerns and therapeutic goals. Being vulnerable is one of the biggest hurdles when you are seeing a therapist. I build strong therapeutic bonds by being non-judgmental and open to your life experiences.

I use evidence based therapy interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Accelerated Resolution therapy (ART) & more.
Do you feel like everyday is a dice roll, and you never win? Have you tried everything you can on your own and nothing seems to get better? You don't have to do it alone. Victor Hugo said, “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” I am here to help you overcome your dark night and find peace. Starting, or returning, to counseling can be hard but I am passionate about making the experience feel safe and comforting. There is no threshold of pain or trauma you have to experience to qualify for counseling; your needs and problems matter. My focus is to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
