Hi! I am a bilingual and bicultural psychotherapist that sees this profession more as a calling than a job. I love helping people understand that they can have healthier and happier lives if they invest a little bit of time in understanding their way of thinking and how this impact their emotions and behaviors.

As a therapist, I like to build a strong non-judgmental relationship with patients in order to encourage safety and the comfort needed to explore and resolve the life struggles that have led you to counseling. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to pin down problem areas in thinking that ultimately affect our relationships, self-worth, and perspective in an unhealthy way. I work towards assisting individuals towards their own therapeutic goals in a structured manner that aims at efficiently providing tools and the knowledge necessary to overcome current and future life stressors.

I am a bilingual, licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, parents and children, and families through community organizations. Specialties in working with women and children who are survivors of crime, domestic violence and abuse issues. Experienced in working in school settings, parenting education and prevention programs. Christian-based counseling is available.

I like to say the counseling profession chose me because I have honestly always had a passion for building connections and having deep conversations about everything from love and joy to heartbreak and hardships. That same passion and undeniable love for San Antonio led me to pursue both my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UTSA. My journey to becoming the Licensed Professional Counselor I am today has been one I am immensely grateful for.

Lydia Friese is a Licensed Professional Counselor , 86941. Lydia earned her M.S. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Counseling. She specializes in relationship issues, Substance Abuse Disorders, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. She has 3 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, teens, couples, adults and families. Lydia’s goal is to provide clients a safe space for clients to move into awareness and gain self-trust. In turn seeing life's challenges as manageable.

The connection between client and therapist is the main factor necessary for successful therapeutic change. I will help you clarify essential goals, that once achieved will lead to you firing me. By being "client-centered", our sessions will be led by you and I will walk with you during your journey, adding evidence-based information, posing insight-oriented questions and helping present relative information in a novel context (due to my being unbiased).
