I have varied experiences in the mental health field, all of which have strengthened my trauma informed approach.
I serve all individuals starting at age 16 through adulthood, to work through real-life problems. Therapy can be difficult to seek for many reasons, including being stigmatized for needing help. Clients seeking therapy from me are often looking to heal from past or current traumas, learn who they are, work through difficult life circumstances, and learn to love and accept themselves. They are also people with full lives, who just need a little help through a difficult time.

I have experience with and enjoy working with adolescents, adults, men, first responders, and individuals with have extensive trauma histories.
Are you looking to change how you experience your day to day life, how you show up in your life, or change reactions and behavior patterns that feel out of your control? Historical trauma can present in present day in many ways; anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, sleep problems, fears, avoidance, feelings of being out of control, and more. There is hope for change! I work with trauma as a primary focus in my practice. Trauma can influence all of our experiences; often creating reactions instead of allowing us to feel that we are in control and making choices.

Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all; I tailor therapy to fit what you need, whether that's EMDR for trauma, skills-building for your work stressors, or a shoulder to cry on because the last year has been hard.
Life can be hard. If you're dealing with stress at work, difficulties in your relationships, or overwhelm with your family (or all of those things at once), therapy can help. I will provide you with the support and safety necessary to get through whatever challenges life throws at you. I can help you process your emotions, build resilience, and increase your overall sense of well-being.

 Cognitive-behavioral therapy interventions  Person-centered play therapy for kids , Trauma-focused  Eye movement desensitization reprocessing  Behavior support system  Autism and Other learning disabilities   Psychosis.
Based on my 25 years of experience, I usually recommend a holistic and objective assessment of the problems as part of the solution. These assessments include understanding, first and foremost, the needs of the individual. These can include anxiety, depression, ADHD, peer issues, family problems, stress, and many other things. I treasure the insight the individuals bring to the conversation with their questions, concerns, observations, and overall experiences. I bring these understandings to my therapy sessions and welcome those involved with the individual to lead the individual towards a more passionate, kind, fulfilling life.

I offer talk therapy, as well as trauma and more creative modalities to fit your needs.
Are you tired and frustrated with old patterns in your life or relationships? Do you find the same things happen over and over again, or maybe similar things but different flavors of conflict? Are boundaries something you struggle to understand, implement, or uphold? Have you experienced trauma of any kind that may be hindering your experience or limiting how much you're able to thrive in life? Does worry or anxiety run the show in your life most days? If any of this sounds relatable for you, know you're not alone and there are resources available to help you grow. I'd love to connect and hear more about you and your story.

Through my career, I've worked with individuals struggling w/ depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, mood disorders, who are adapting to a change in health status, & who are survivors of trauma.
Life can be such a challenge at times and things can start to feel overwhelming, especially in today's world. I know how hard it can be to reach out for help, and that it can feel difficult to find the right "fit" for a counselor. This is why I am passionate about providing a "person-first approach" to counseling and strive to offer each client both a welcoming and professional, environment to process, grow, and learn. I have a variety of personal, professional, and educational experiences and tools to bring to our work together with the sole purpose of helping you feel safe, heard, and ultimately feel better & more capable overall.

My experience includes serving as Clinical Supervisor at the Travis County Children’s Advocacy Center where I worked with children, teens, adults, and families who have experienced trauma.
Everyone is worthy of being heard. Everyone has a story to tell and a journey to embrace. Therapy is an avenue for navigating challenges and developing healthy solutions for overall wellness. I ground my therapeutic focus in cultivating a relationship with the client based on trust, compassion, and security. Individuals often seek therapy when they feel lost, experience loneliness, and/or face life’s crossroads. I hope to accompany clients on their journeys, helping them discover a deeper connection with themselves and others while also acquiring skills to face unique challenges.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
