Hi! My name is Ruth Roberts and I am licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 23 years of clinical experience. I am able to treat a variety of mental health disorders for individuals, families, and couples such as anxiety, depression, stress management, coping skills, emotional regulation, and trauma. My approach to therapy is based on the evidence-based perspective of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) such as Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

Sometimes people are not sure what they need to help them live a productive, mentally healthy and happy life. That could be from issues of the past or present difficulties they are facing. My goal is to assist them to find the solutions they need to continue on in a healthy manner discovering how to face and conquer the issues of the past and/or of the present and future.

My name is Maria Nowlin. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Music Therapist, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. My practice specialty includes maternal mental health and trauma. I work with moms in all aspects of the motherhood journey. This can look like postpartum anxiety/depression, struggles with infertility, feeling overwhelmed with daily tasks, having no time for self-care, or parenting struggles. I also work with adults who have experienced trauma or are struggling to overcome complex trauma.

I started my career in mental health as a mental health technician for PEAK Behavioral Hospital in 2006. I then became a Qualified Mental Health Professional/Case Manager for Texana Center for 8 years in 2007. I then became a behavioral health counselor at Eating Recovery Center-Houston with clients struggling with various eating disorders, followed by becoming a therapist for two different PHP/IOP programs, one for adults and the other for adolescents. Finally, I have experience working for a private practice and now my own private practice with clients who struggle with stress, domestic violence, parenting, family conflict, etc.

Relationships and core emotional needs are the foundation of our well-being. With over 20 years of Christian experience in working with couples and individuals, I offer to the coaching and counseling setting a biblical, as well as a clinical, relational perspective. I am a graduate of Nyack Christian College and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I always like to say God gave me children early in my adult life because I was meant to help children in their own life struggles. I fully believe that God has plans for us even if we do not fully understand them! When our children face struggles that we cannot understand or feel equipped to help them with, we can feel lost and overwhelmed. Children and adolescents are often placed in situation and have experiences that are out of their control.

Trauma is overwhelming you and your anxiety is out of control. The disturbing memories invade your thoughts and disrupt your sense of well being. You may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety, fear, irritability, flashbacks, shame, helplessness, depression, closing off of emotions, numbness, sleep disturbance and fatigue. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and an EMDR therapist, I am specially trained to work with clients who are experiencing emotional disturbance from unprocessed trauma.
