Relationships are difficult! Taking care of a partnership is not something we are taught how to do, and many of us didn’t have good models of this growing up. You and your partner are stuck in unhealthy patterns that you feel are related to your troubled past. Intimacy starts with a secure connection. When you feel safe in a relationship, you can disagree and be authentic. You can grow as individuals, without threatening the relationship. If you and your partner are resentful, feeling stuck, acting out, or otherwise off-course, then you may be in need of some help. I can support you in re-connecting and thriving again.

My workshops involve learning about narcissism, how it presents, how our own beliefs can leave us vulnerable to narcissistic type people and how to begin to heal.
I specialize in narcissistic abuse recovery. I offer in person and virtual Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Workshops. Are tired of the same toxic relationships? Are you are ready to heal from your trauma and not repeat the past? Maybe, you can no longer trust your intuition to determine who is good for you and who isn't? You feel like no matter what you do, you can't seem to get away from toxic relationships, friendships or experiencing yet another trauma. You are struggling to cope with the trauma caused by the relationship.

Are you walking on eggshells in your relationship? Do you feel drained and underappreciated as you try to fill your partner's needs? Maybe your family doesn't feel as close and you feel guilty because friends stopped reaching out. You may feel lost and unsure, stopped taking care of yourself, or don't put your needs first.

Please note that all my sessions are now via video. See below for list of states. I think therapy is about change. Sometimes the change is simply accepting yourself. Sometimes it's changing your situation. A lot of times it's changing how you work with your situation, such as relationships, finances, or your own emotions. I love to work with clients who are hungry for change. Together we can figure out HOW to get you that change. Like most therapists, I enjoy working on relationship issues. I probably enjoy more than most working on how to deal with your emotions and on self-acceptance.

People come to see me for lots of different reasons. Some are struggling with anxiety, depression, or a crippling addiction. Some are having difficulty in their relationships with others. Some are going through a difficult time - a mid life crisis, the loss of a job or a loved one, or a frightening medical diagnosis. Most are tired of repeating unconscious patterns that were learned long ago that continue to be played out in spite of their best efforts. All are seeking a happier, healthier life and a way to achieve that. Psychotherapy is the best place to invest in oneself and work toward these goals.

At the heart of my work, I approach therapy from a relational, psychodynamic therapy model, which means I believe the relationship between the client and therapist can be a transformative component in the growth process. I am a LPC combining modern neurobiology with holistic somatic healing, the psychodynamic therapeutic relationship, and body-based practices to create an experiential awakening on a bodily, psychological and emotional level. I work from a somatic-centered therapeutic approach, meaning that I believe that the body tells the stories and narratives. For more information, my website is: www.kellypastori.com

I specialize in three types of clients - couples hanging on by a thread, men who are less than thrilled at the idea of attending therapy, and individuals that live under a constant state of performance pressure. As someone who has lived and survived all three of these scenarios personally, I've got a ton of empathy and a box of tools ready for people motivated to achieve change. Whether you're picking up the pieces from infidelity, exhausted from fighting about the same tired topics, or struggling to escape the voices in your head that beat you down, I'm honored to pull up a chair next you and begin sorting through the mess.

Do you find yourself spiraling with doubt about each decision you make, no matter what you do? Maybe you find yourself relying on others’ opinions to ‘know’ how you feel, what you ‘should’ be doing, or even what your intentions are. You feel things deeply and are easily affected by the emotions of others. You are thinking “There has to be another way”. You’re ready to better understand yourself and have better relationships. Most of all, you’re ready to trust yourself and feel empowered.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
