I provide individual, couples and family therapy, and specialize in working with adults struggling with grief and loss, shame, depression, anxiety, relational and multicultural issues.
Your personal experiences of trials and tribulations have the power to curate meaning and purpose in your life. I believe that each of us are inevitably interconnected in our human experience and that our systems shape much of our self-understanding in the context of our worldview. I view my role as helping clients reach their capacities for healing and meaning through self-reflection, connection and redirection.

My style is relational and collaborative, honoring your pace and autonomy in therapy.
Have you ever lost hope for the possibility of healing or genuine understanding from others? It’s human to want to feel seen for who we are, but often the risk or lived experience of harm and rejection can cause us to hide the most vulnerable (and connecting) parts of ourselves. Imagine for a moment what it would be like to feel authentically seen and embraced—to practice self-compassion and celebrate every part of yourself.

We all struggle sometimes, but ongoing issues can leave us exhausted, isolated, confused, discouraged... If your days or nights are hard to get through, if you can't seem to settle down or stop overthinking, if life feels scary or you don't know what to do, if you never feel good enough or can't seem to 'get over' or 'stop doing' x, I'd love to talk with you. My experience is broad, but my practice is largely focused on anxiety & stress disorders, relational trauma, chronic & terminal illnesses, and healthy coping/decision making during life transitions.

Gradual exploration of your personality, relational history, and internal conflicts is valuable.
“Dig within. Within is the wellspring of Good; and it is always ready to bubble up, if you just dig.” Marcus Aurelius. I've been fortunate enough to witness the ability that psychotherapy has to reflect a clear and uplifting view of your true self. Our emotions are deep, complex, and often misunderstood. By safely building meaningful context around your emotions, thoughts, and experiences, you understand yourself more clearly. This understanding leads to a freedom to pursue a life and future that makes you truly happy.

I guarantee you are not alone, no matter what you might be carrying. In both assessment and psychotherapy, I emphasize a relational, person-centered approach. In therapy, we will work together to heal from hardships and traumatic experiences. The goal is to empower you with the tools you need to regain hope and carry on, no matter how dark the experiences have colored your world. The wound is the place where the light enters you (Rumi). Objective information gathered from assessments helps bring the missing pieces together to complete the puzzle of mental/physical health complexities. I work with children, adolescents, and adults.

Making the choice to attend to personal or relational healing is an act of courage. The courage to show up. The courage to be seen in all the beautiful, difficult and complex parts of being human. As a fellow traveler on the road to growth, we all need help along the way. The stigma of counseling is, thankfully, moving aside and making way for us to create purposeful living as well as strong, secure relational bonds that have far reaching benefits for couples and families. I have a collaborative and humanistic approach to co-creating an environment where you feel safe, seen and honored.

Society Today can be dealt multiple Life stressors, ranging from Financial, Marital, Relational, issues with employment and or Life in General. Through Therapy, an Individualized Improvement Plan can be devised and implemented to assist individuals with coping and possibly overcoming the issues they are facing. Adolescents and Teens are complicated, and I am eager to assist. Teen groups are available as well as individualized treatment. Two people working together are always better than one. As a therapist I have learned the more input a client contributes to their therapeutic goals the better the outcomes and success possibility.

My approach is relational talk-therapy, to create a space where you and I both get to be human, and fully authentic.
I am secular (non-religious) and affirming of LGBTQ+ clients, and I often work with adults wanting to process their family issues (like a narcissistic or emotionally immature parent), or processing faith transition/ deconstruction. I also offer space to process things like anxiety, stress and relationships. I believe in the power of the therapist-client relationship and the importance of having a safe, supportive space that allows you to sort through your thoughts and feelings.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
