Being a Therapist is an honor. I love guiding people towards positive changes and watching them transform their lives. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is when my clients state the coping skills are working. I am committed to encouraging you to see healing and transformation are possible. Our Sessions Are Focused On You. Sessions will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to figure things out. It's important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and focus on goals.

What an amazing day to heal! Allow me to help you achieve the life you are entitled to and deserve. We all carry baggage and experience ongoing day-to-day stressors that can make the future seem unattainable. Now is the time to put your life into perspective and get back on track. I have experience working with individuals, adolescents, and adolescent groups. Most issues presented to me in therapy include relational and vocational stressors, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, anger management, impulse control issues, self-harm, inattention/focusing problems, bipolar disorder, grief/loss, post traumatic stress, and substance abuse.

What does counseling involve? Counseling can embrace much more than just addressing troubling thoughts, traumatic experiences, or when “things just don’t seem to be going your way.” Counseling can encompass the concept of accountability to guide you through your goals, whether health and fitness, wellness, and/or career goals. I use a system that lays out your goals for us to achieve them one at a time or combine them on the same “card”. I use an approach similar to the incident command system. Where we start with a “scene size up”, identify the strategies, and prioritize what “fire” we need to extinguish first.

I've worked with chronic stress, depression, anxiety, life transitions, adjustment to disability, PTSD, and career changes.
Do you feel like avoiding difficult conversations is safer but then regret not getting the clarity you need? Do you find it hard to just be present without worrying about the past or future? Maybe you've been experiencing so much stress lately that it's affecting your ability to engage with family, friends, work and it's even impacting your health? You keep your thoughts to yourself because you feel like no one understands or is able to help. You just want to be able to get rid of the anxiety, overwhelming stress, and have more confidence in yourself. You want a life that looks more aligned with what's important to you.

My interests include Faith Based counseling, Women's issues and College/ Career counseling.
Sometimes life is overwhelming. Sometimes we feel alone. Sometimes things come into our lives that we are not expecting and they shake us to our core. When this happens, we can't think clearly and we can't see our next step. Whether you are experiencing grief, loss of a relationship or a job, difficulty setting life goals or coming to terms with your current situation, you need someone to come along beside you to help you through. Someone who has been through life's struggles and made it through to the other side. You need someone to help you sort things out so that you can find your own solutions and be able to move forward.

This past year has brought struggles for many people. Job insecurity, anxiety, and wondering if we are doing the right thing for our families are just some of the challenges we face everyday. If you have been dealing with these thoughts and more, reaching out to a counselor may be a way to help. Trying to find our place in the chaos of pressures that we have from the world and the internal demands we place on ourselves can wear us out. This may be causing you to interact, communicate, and react to your family/friends in ways you never did before.

My name is Iesha Anderson. I was born and raised in Houston, TX and graduated from Prairie View A&M University. I also attended Texas Southern University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Academics were a very important part of my life. I realized at an early age that education was vital to my future success in life and the life of others. I have always had a passion for counseling and helping since the first day I sat in my psychology course during my journey in undergraduate school. My experience in Real Estate, taxes, customer service, and mental health has equipped me with the ability to relate and understand where others are coming from. I have always had a passion for special populations and was blessed to find a career that combined my love for both, families and individuals.

“Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending—to rise strong, recognize our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, Yes.
Providing a safe space for clients to reflect on the past while working toward future goals is critical in the work I do. I take pride in building relationships by listening to each individual's story and empowering them to re-frame their narrative and work toward healing on their terms and timelines. I specialize in working with teens and adolescents, individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, and also those who have experienced trauma or are working through grief and loss.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
