It takes consistent tenacity to function in this post-pandemic world. Do you feel worn down, unmotivated and irritable? It is time to use that grit to focus on what you possess that can rekindle active participation in this life, to bask in the moments of joy that appear throughout each day, to embrace new experiences as opportunities for growth and healing.

Asking for help is a sign of strength. People mistake the feeling of vulnerability for weakness, allowing this feeling to surface means we are facing something painful. This takes courage. Learning to experience feelings without judging them is a foundational part of the healing process. Acceptance is a sign of bravery and leads to developing what is called emotional intelligence. When you engage in the development of your emotional intelligence you are increasing self-awareness and personal freedom by creating choice where there was none before.

Apart from practical and overtly experiential methods, I also provide trauma-informed talk therapy (using NARM, the Neuroaffective Relational Model), and I welcome clients of any or no faith background at all.
Do you ever feel like your actions don't make sense, and you don't know why you end up doing what you do and feeling how you feel? Like maybe YOU don't make sense? I have been there too, and I believe there are reasons behind what we believe and how we act. Part of my intention is to help you develop insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as to provide a safe space for you to feel whatever stirs inside of you. By paying attention to all of your experience, we can learn more about your inner process, begin to disentangle that process from self-judgment, and help you find meaning in your struggles and triumphs.

Don't allow symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, stress, or trauma keep you in the darkness any longer.
Maybe you are overwhelmed, physically and emotionally exhausted, and constantly worrying. Maybe you feel alone, lost, and numb, wondering if you'll ever feel "normal" again. Please know that you are not alone. Seeking help and showing vulnerability to someone you don't know can feel intimidating, but it marks the beginning of your mental health journey!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
