I believe that our struggles with mental health can often make us think we are outside looking in. Different. Broken. The Black Sheep. When we learn how to change our view of our unique challenges or experiences they can become strengths and lose their power over us. My focus is to help individuals increase their awareness of their own wealth of internal strength and ability to make the changes in their lives they want. We will achieve this through a collaborative approach which will bring elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ACT, SFBT and existential philosophy into the amazing ability you already have to grow.

We embrace our core values of authenticity, humor, compassion, creativity, determination, and acceptance.
Making the decision to go to therapy is hard enough. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable talking with about all the things in life that brought you to the office shouldn't be so hard. At Ellie Mental Health Pflugerville, we totally get it! Why? Because our therapists are just like everybody else! Being a therapist doesn't give us a "free pass" from all the struggles that can occur in life. That being said, we have the compassion, authenticity, and a sprinkle of humor to sit with you along your journey - no matter how big or small the issues you're dealing with.

To fight the shame that keeps us from growing, I center acceptance of the whole self in my practice.
When you struggle with motivation and energy, that long list of chores can feel like a punishment. Or maybe feeling burnt out has sucked the passion out of your career, leaving you aimless. Every day can feel like a losing battle, but you don’t have to do it alone. It doesn't always have to end in a fight against time and anxiety, and you don't have to feel shame for struggling to complete what seems to come easily to others. Understanding what really makes you tick and finding motivation within yourself can put you on the path to living on your own terms instead of playing catch-up.

I am an EMDR trained therapist and I have extensive training in acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, trauma-informed practice, and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
We are not meant to figure everything out in life on our own. Sometimes we get lost, or overwhelmed or stuck, and we need some help. I believe that there is nothing “wrong” with any of us. You’re not broken; you don’t need to be fixed. It is part of the human condition to experience pain and suffering – and there are times, throughout life, we all lose contact with pieces of ourselves. When we get stuck in a cycle of harmful thoughts and ineffective coping strategies, it prevents us from accessing and experiencing positive events in the here-and-now.

My trainings and certifications include Mindfulness/Insight-based therapies, ACT, EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis, Metaphors of Movement, Provocative Changeworks, and NLP.
Hardly anybody I know aspires to be that average, center-of-the-bell-curve person. In different ways, we all deviate from the norm, which explains our own uniqueness. My aim as a therapist is to work with individuals, couples, triads, and families in a way that celebrates their uniqueness and "incurable deviance." By meeting you where you are, with who you are, in a way that makes best use of your unique strengths, hopes, dreams, and quirks, we can work together as client(s) and therapist to help you address your current challenges, get lots more of what you want, develop skills, transform, and explore new choices available to you.

Often rooted in the modalities of Acceptance and Commitment ( ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and sometimes Play Therapy, our sessions will be engaging and focused on developing the tools and techniques to help achieve your goals such that you can live your best life.
"There is no such thing as ready, there is only willing" -Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. If you are willing to take the steps to a better version of yourself, I would like to be your guide. I won’t tell you who you should be or what you should do with your life, instead I will provide you with a supportive and safe space to explore what you believe to be the best version of you so that our work can then focus on what is needed to help you achieve your unique and specific goals.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
