Asking for help can be scary, and it’s my job to help guide and encourage you to take the steps necessary for change in your life….at your own pace based on your own needs. Trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and even grief can take root in our everyday lives without us even knowing it. They can manifest and effect our well being in negative ways. Once we realize they are there, it takes a lot of courage to seek change. I am very passionate about guiding individuals from ages 12 and beyond through transitions of life that may encompass dealing with these issues and more.

Hi, I'm Caden. I’m a LMFT-A (supervised by Bianca Vincent LMFT-S) specializing in trauma, and I work with children, individuals, couples, and families. My experience comes from working extensively with those affected by the foster care system, where I’ve encountered many children and families who have faced trauma, instability, and loss. I’ve worked with children dealing with severe behavioral challenges and have supported families in strengthening their connections. Together, we navigate difficult dynamics and decisions, fostering growth in trust and communication along the way.

“We are hurt in relationship; we heal in relationship” is the core conviction of my therapeutic approach. From the time our earliest map forms in our families, we see the world through the lens of our experience. It’s through relationships that our worldview expands and our sense-of-self matures, especially if we take time for inquiry and insight, and to integrate what we learn. I work from a self-in-context perspective, deeply attuning to the ways our family impacts us and our culture as well.

Crisis and adversity often provide opportunities to realign with our core values, needs, and desires. People of all ages seek talk therapy during emotional crises, as it helps them identify symptoms of anxiety and depression stemming from academic, social, and emotional stressors. I specialize in assisting individuals in developing coping strategies and creating a plan for returning to a sense of normalcy using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). That painful event keeps replaying over and over in your head. You can’t stop seeing the images of it. Thoughts of what you could have done differently play on repeat. They force their way into your mind, leaving you overwhelmed, panicked, and burnt out. The triggers are everywhere and anxiety and depression feel like they’re constantly looming over you. If you could just let it go maybe you could move on with your life. You no longer want to carry the weight of what happened but to enjoy the things you once loved.

Counseling does not dictate one way to be or feel. Here there is no judgement, only support and guidance as we face your reality together, process any difficult or confusing matters within a safe space, make sense of your own unique story, and establish personal well-being in healthy ways that work for you. I have overcome obstacles concerning physical disability, grief, stress, anxiety, and financial conflict. Mental illness is not the only cause for counseling. If you are experiencing distress in any amount do not be afraid or ashamed to seek help. Everyone requires assistance at times and there is not always someone available.

“Your mental health is everything — prioritize it. Make the time like your life depends on it because it does.” — Mel Robbins. I believe that I didn't choose to be a mental health professional, the profession chose me. I remember helping my friends in High school with their traumas and life transition issues. The ability to connect and make people feel comfortable talking to me about their personal stories took me on this professional path. What I love the most about being a mental health professional is having the opportunity and privilege of being a part of people’s journeys.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
