I am a Board Certified Art Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and trained in using EMDR with clients.
I believe in each client’s potential and unique creativity. Your mind and body are designed to heal. I seek to help clients connect and return to the natural and healthy design of rest and digest and grow coping tools when faced with being in a fight or flight mode. Hope is a critical force in the healing process. “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness,” Desmond Tutu. Being able to connect to the present with honesty, transparency, and non-judgment is a key ingredient to understanding oneself and embracing the healing journey.

I am EMDR & CPT trained and offer a variety of therapies that are trauma-informed.
Life can be hard. Sometimes it feels like you’re getting sucked into a black hole. Maybe it’s depression, anxiety, PTSD or past traumas, grief, current relationships, substance use, or life piling one thing on top of another—whatever it is, you’re looking for a change. And you deserve it! You are worthy of peace, love, and healing just as you are! I would love to help you figure out your goals and how we can work together to meet them.

I offer you the tools and expertise to express yourself creatively in addition to more common methods such as EMDR and CBT.
Are you tired of searching for support only to find more barriers and judgement? Are you seeking a place of peace with a professional who can help you and your loved ones hold the heavy burden of what has happened to you? Have you tried forms of therapy that you heard were the "Gold Standard" and found they didn't work for you as expected? Sometimes our experiences are so heavy and cause us so much pain that it can be difficult to keep going. I offer you and your loved ones a safe place where your hope can be renewed and solutions can be found.

I'm EMDR and Play Therapy trained.
Do you ever find yourself awake in the middle of the night? Do you often feel that you're talking in circles to your teen? Often do you worry who their friends are? If so I understand, and I can help. Navigating parenting can be difficult.

Everywhere you look everyone seems filled with joy, but you are filled with dread. Going through the motions, putting on a smiling face, covering up that you're barely handling your responsibilities has left you physically and emotionally exhausted. Your life has become an act of pretending everything is fine. But, you know the truth: everything is not fine. You want to change, to feel that spark of joy again, to live life fully and authentically. With each new year, you swear this time will be different. You'll accomplish your goals, you'll do things differently. You'll finally be happy. But how?

Therapy begins the very moment you make the brave decision to step into that unknown to know yourself better and seek wholeness for yourself. Before you even contact the office, you have become a catalyst in an amazing journey by deciding to step and trust someone with your story. It is sacred to share your story and let yourself be known and make your voice heard. I honor that. You are not broken. You are simply open to the possibility of something more. In case no one has told you, I am proud of your brave.

Some of the modalities I offer include but are not limited to; the Gottman Method, EMDR, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral, therapeutic coping skills and play and art based therapies.
Having the pleasure of working with kids, adults, couples and families for the past 20+ years has taught me that not all storms come to disrupt our life, some come to clear our path. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore challenges you may be facing. Together we will identify your strengths and develop them into effective strategies for coping with everyday life. We Fall. We Break. We Fail. But then we Rise. We Heal. We Overcome.

I am trained in various types of therapy, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
As a dedicated elementary teacher I noticed many families with unmet mental health needs. As I observed their struggles, my zeal for instruction adapted from the classroom to the therapy office.

I utilize modalities like Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Work, and love to incorporate the Enneagram.
I have found that my love for adventure and exploration has bled into the work I like to do in therapy. I struggle with "surface level" in the same way I have always struggled with small talk. I want to go deeper into what has shaped the lives of others and how this has impacted their current level of functioning. Ideally, I want to work with people who are interested in doing the same. The ones who are ready to take the ride and see what lies beneath. Within us is an entire universe of possibility, you just have to be open to it.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
