I utilize a variety of techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Solution Focused Therapy and Strength Based Therapy to name a few.
I am deeply committed to empowering people to live as their authentic selves. Many factors, such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, effects of trauma, and life transitions get in the way of people doing just that. Helping you find this source factor and overcoming it is what I most enjoy helping others do. Whatever your reason for seeking out therapy, I am dedicated to helping you find a way to improve your mental health.

Solution Focused therapy helps to uncover solutions that work.
Accepting New Clients. Making the decision to seek therapy is a brave step which requires courage to change. I would feel honored to help you and your child take that step. I believe in providing a supportive and compassionate environment for the therapy process. I am a strong believer that our thoughts have a great influence over our feelings and behavior, and that everyone has within them the tools needed to thrive.

Life can be tough, with it's many challenges, distractions, and unpredictable tragedies and disappointments. Fortunately, you don't have to face them alone. I believe that through strategic planning, new learned coping skills, and spiritual guidance, personal and relational healing is possible. I love working with couples, but believe that even one person can make a difference in the condition of a relationship as they learn better ways to communicate and deal with their own issues.

My goal is to use a solution focused approach to finding and unlocking those overlooked and sometimes buried exceptional values trapped within you.
Establishing your purpose, restoring hope and renewing wholeness is my best hope for you as I join with you to seek constructive solutions to keeping your mind will and emotions grounded in peace. Sometimes complications in life cause us to lose our balance and desired outcomes become fragmented.

My approach to therapy is from a Cognitive Behavior perspective based on Christian values. My goal in counseling is to provide my clients with alternative ways of thinking about themselves, life, relationships, etc. I have opted for this therapeutic approach because in life, every thought is tied to an emotion. Those thoughts not only affect one mentally, but physically. If an individual can change the way they view life, their current situation, and how they feel, it could ultimately change their behavior.

Clients I see are usually struggling with couple/relationship problems, parenting difficulty, blended family issues, anger, anxiety, adjusting to difficult life issues, and depression. Most clients are not enjoying life and want help making some changes and finding their way through pain, circumstances, and difficulty. About half of my client's are looking for a therapist who can identify with a Christian/Biblical perspective as well. I am currently only offering Teletherapy.

Solution Focused Brief (SFBT) Therapists

How does solution-focused therapy work?

The treatment works by helping a client notice which behaviors and thoughts have positive results on their lives and building a plan around how to maximise these strengths. Practitioners of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) believe that individuals already have the experience, wisdom, and resilience to create change in their lives, but may need a guide to help them realise which changes to make and how to make them.

Is solution-focused brief therapy evidence-based?

Yes. Solution-focused brief therapy has been extensively studied, and researchers find strong evidence that it’s an effective treatment for many behavioral and psychological concerns. This may be due to the uplifting nature and practicality of the treatment, which allows patients to employ strategies to reach their goals that are incremental and achievable.

How long does solution-focused brief therapy last?

Solution-focused brief therapy, as the name implies, is brief. The timeline may vary from person to person, given the challenges they face and their situation in life, but treatment is typically complete within four to eight sessions. This therapy type is a pragmatic one: it’s concerned more with “how” problems can be addressed and improved than getting to the root of “why” they exist in the first place.

Is solution-focused brief therapy a type of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Solution-focused brief therapy is related to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)in that both are pragmatic approaches that deal less with gaining a full understanding of the cause of a mental health problem and more with creating plans for how to cope with these problems and improve an individual’s day-to-day life. They are distinct, however, in that SFBT emphasises building on strengths and resources, while CBT focuses on changing negative thoughts and behaviors.
