I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 17 years. First in my hometown of El Paso, TX and now the past 2 years here in the Houston area. My mission is to provide a safe, empowering place for you to learn new aspects of yourself, outgrow patterns and relationships that no longer serve you, and create a purpose that is life fulfilling. I am Dr. Shyra Jones and have been fully licensed in the state of Texas since 2011. My license number is 66025. I have worked with individuals between the ages of 5 to 80 and inn a variety of settings. I like to work to develop a treatment plan that may include techniques to manage negative self-talk, limit habits that no longer work, identify strengths, and help process trauma in order to put it appropriately behind my clients. This may do through the use of expressive arts, getting in touch with the body, and “talk therapy.”

My desire is to assist clients (ages 10-90), including adolescents, adults and couples, find a balance between a healthy need for relationship and possible psychological, social or spiritual factors within a framework of personal responsibility. After teaching English and Art for 23 years, I experienced the power of expressive arts to unlock inner voices that help students/clients achieve hope and confidence.
