As a therapist who has experienced trauma & grief and lives with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I continue to do the work to discover different ways to assist clients seeking healing and support in these three areas, along with other stress related issues.
You know that saying “Never judge a book by its cover”? Well, I can honestly say that the cover of my book does not match the pages! The pages in my book of life have equipped me with the experience to connect with ALL people. In my book, I’ve encountered many conflicts. I’ve been the antagonist and the protagonist and I’m just in the rising action. Because my pages are not all filled with butterflies and sunshine, I’ve had to work to find ways to help equip myself with daily coping skills. I am happy to be in a position to share my experience with others through therapy and educational opportunities.

I believe in creating a safe and trusting relationship between the client and therapist. Therapy can be hard work and getting started can be scary, however making art and stimulating creativity can ease this process. As your therapist, I will encourage you to use your creative imagination as a vehicle to understanding your inner turmoil, psychic pain or stagnancy. Along the way we will be implementing these effective tools in cultivating a more fulfilling life experience. Main office line is 972-544-6633.

I see you. You've been let down a lot. You're exhausted from carrying so much inside. You're overwhelmed, anxious, on edge. You're tired of feeling alone. You're fed up with putting on that smile and being strong on the outside when you're crying on the inside. You may feel like this pain is never going to end no matter what you do. It's hopeless. You beat yourself up way to much because of this, and it's affecting your relationship with others and the relationship with yourself. What if I told you that you can be happy? I help teens, women, and men heal from their trauma. I am here to be the support that you DESERVE! I offer HOPE!

I may not know exactly how you feel, but I understand that you want to feel differently: about yourself, about your relationship, about your life. I welcome adolescents and adults, couples, and families facing a variety of challenges including stress, depression, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, parenting, unresolved familial conflict, and the general "stuck" feeling. I believe that with my understanding of people and your understanding of you, we can work together to address these challenges.

I graduated with a BA in Psychology and an MEd in Counseling from the University of Houston. I practice from a client-centered approach, but I like to integrate techniques from many different approaches. I feel like clients come to therapy to feel understood, listened to, and form a connection with another person. I also understand that people have strengths and can be empowered to make their own decisions for themselves.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
