We offer an integrated approach to counseling, using a biblical worldview and our skills and experience to offer counseling from a Christian perspective, although we also use traditional and cutting edge therapeutic approaches and integrate them into our practice where helpful. Not every client shares our worldview, and this integrated approach allows us to serve clients not seeking distinctly Christian counseling.

I will most often tell you what you don't want to hear, in a loving, kind way. I use a variety of treatment modalities in any given session. I work with people not diagnoses. First and foremost I want my clients to know that they are not on their own. I first began to study counseling psychology because I enjoy helping people. When a person comes into my office it is usually because they are in need of help. Your past will provide us insight about how you came to your present circumstances, but it doesn't have to define you or your future. I have flexible scheduling and will try to accommodate you. We believe that using cognitive testing and evidenced-based interventions with the collaboration of clients creates the most positive impact on helping clients meet their goals. In addition, to these therapeutic specialties, Excelsior Therapy is connected with a medical team that can assist with medication management that many clients have come to appreciate.

My counseling practice focuses on adolescent and adults with a specialized focus on LGBTQ+ populations. As a gay man, I am held by deeply spiritual beliefs to help my LGBTQ+ community whenever possible. I also treat addiction, dual-diagnosis, spirituality, anxiety, gender identity, depression, divorce, grief and those who are recovering from religious abuse. I meet clients where they are in life and that is always my starting point while building a relationship to facilitate change.

Working through the hard times together and learning how to manage them can feel very difficult, but it is always worth the effort. It can be helpful to take a strategic approach to finding positive solutions. This is why I utilize multiple evidence-based approaches to fit the needs of my clients. My approach is an emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
