Andrea Johnson is real. A blend of warmth, depth, and no-nonsense, she puts it best when she explains that she gives honesty to get honesty. She never abandons the basic premise that people just need to be heard. With today's societal message that you have to be happy, the emotions of pain, hurt, sadness and disappointment have become taboo. Andrea's office is often the only space people have to dive into the truth of their situation.

My therapeutic philosophy involves utilizing a holistic approach incorporating Gestalt and Adlerian therapies. As a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in athletes, children, adolescents, and young adults, I frequently work with clients experiencing issues related to poor sport or school performance, life changes during adolescence, life transitioning from college to career, parenting issues, sibling relationships, and divorce family transitioning. Topical issues may include low self-esteem , ADHD, transitioning from athletic identity, peer relationships, anger management, self-mutilation, eating disorders, and self-empowerment. A fundamental element in my approach is establishing the therapeutic relationship through rapport and building trust between the client and the therapist.

If you're looking for solid biblical perspective and a listening ear I can provide that. This life throws a lot of curves your way as a believer; marriage, parenting, anxiety, stress, physical issues and so much more. Where does your faith fit into these needs? What does the bible say about your issues? Putting your faith into practice when things are tough isn't easy. Let's work through it together.

Is pornography, sexual compulsivity, or infidelity destroying your marriage? Feeling hurt, angry, betrayed? Want things to change but not sure how? You might try to deny that there really is a problem, but the worries that wake you in the middle of the night tell a different story. If you're tired of fighting the same battles and no longer believe the promises that next time will be different, the task ahead of you may seem overwhelming - but hope and help are available.

Healing can mean diving deep into your past. Those depths can be a scary, painful place, but there’s treasure, too. You're created in God’s image, uniquely wired to be like no one else, with gifts and strengths to discover. I welcome you to a safe space to explore yourself. You’re free to be completely, unashamedly YOU... w/out the masks that hide what's beneath the surface. I'll listen, offer validation, show acceptance/grace, & encourage you to take those first steps towards becoming the YOU God intended. Learn to extend grace to yourself as you discover the life you’ve always wanted. Saturday appts available, BCBS accepted.

Exhausted. Hoping to have a good day with your child, but hope ran out when he had another tantrum. Praying for some relief. The yelling and screaming and the anxiety are becoming unmanageable. Just one good day. That's not asking too much, is it? Lots of advice but nothing has worked. Or it works for a while and then it goes back to the same old thing. Fear of what might happen means staying home most of the time. Surely there is a better way. For you and your child.

Children often do not have the words to express what they are thinking or feeling. Traditional talk therapy alone is rarely successful in helping children process difficult life situations. I help children overcome anxiety, depression, and other challenges. I also assist parents in building strong, open relationships with their children. If your child is going through anxiety, sadness, behavior problems, social issues, or life changes (divorce, loss of a loved one, etc.) I am happy to walk along side them in their journey. In addition to working with children, I also see teens and adults.

If this is your first time looking for a therapist, I get that it can feel daunting. You may feel as if your life is slipping away, but where to begin? Experience has taught me that the relationship between a therapist and their client is the most important predictor to how the therapeutic process turns out. Whether anxiety, depression, grief or trauma have brought you to my corner of the world, I'm here to be your teammate by being present with you from day one through providing support and curiosity during our time together.

I help women build resilience to weather the storms of life with grace and strength. I know the importance of being able to bounce back from loss, disappointment, or crisis. As a therapist who works with women stung and damaged by all sorts of life events, I believe that resilience is one of the single most important qualities that enables us to bounce back from the edge. Resilience allows us to find our strength in adverse circumstances. It requires a willingness to fall apart for a time and get in touch with our pain. There is much healing that can be accomplished by getting to know yourself at your rawest and darkest times.

Have you ever felt like you were in a situation that you have not realized was so bad until recently, but now do not know what to do about it after having lived with it for so long? Maybe it is a situation or a person you have been living with that has been causing you grief? Perhaps a recent trauma has affected you in ways that others have suggested might be unhealthy, even? Perhaps also you struggle with an addiction, and need help breaking free? Sometimes, we might just feel sad about something, or it might be as simple as just not feeling like everything is OK.

I am secular (non-religious) and affirming of LGBTQ+ clients, and I often work with adults wanting to process their family of origin issues (things like a narcissistic or emotionally immature parent), or processing faith transition/ deconstruction. I also offer space to process things like anxiety, stress and relationships. I believe in the power of the therapist-client relationship and the importance of having a safe, supportive space that allows you to sort through your thoughts and feelings. Clients who want to grow in mindful awareness of their patterns and choices in life will be good fits.
