As a young adult in my early twenties, I met with my first counselor who introduced me to a group counseling experience that brought life-changing spiritual and emotional transformation. Although I had come to counseling for one problem in my life, the therapeutic process illuminated so much more than what I could articulate or even knew I needed. This initial encounter is what drew me toward the counseling profession and deepened my passion and motivation for helping others in the same way that I have been helped.

Hi, I'm Melissa Galica, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 5 years of experience in the state of Texas. I typically work with young adults 18-26, mothers (prenatal, postpartum), the LGBTQIA+ community, and those suffering from religious trauma. As a counselor, the therapies I use often include CBT, DBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy. I hold the strong belief that people are perfectly imperfect. They are beautiful and spectacular but can also become stuck, unable to live a fulfilling life. That’s where I come in.

To me, a large part of therapy is about grieving, acceptance, and peace within ourselves and others; I am particularly good at helping people get in touch with their feelings. I tend to work with the heavier side of therapy, that include drug/ alcohol /cannabis addiction, domestic violence, narcissism, borderline, sex/porn addiction, sex offense, sexual shame, couples working through sobriety-recovery dynamics, infidelity, poly relationships, court, and anger management. I tend to work really well with those who enjoy dark humor, who are avoidant by nature, and those who are seeking redemption from guilt/shame.

Javiar recognizes that life is full of obstacles, which may translate into depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, and trauma. All of these can feel like inadequacy, failure, loneliness, and pain. He believes that through an empathetic and collaborative relationship with his client, each can experience growth and healing.
