We all encounter different challenges and stressors throughout the course of our lives. Sometimes those challenges and stressors can be overwhelming and exhausting to tackle solo. I believe that sometimes we aren’t sure what we even need but are certain that something needs to or could be different in our life. I naturally work from a strengths-based and client-centered perspective and feel that collaboration and rapport are key components in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help you heal and flourish in your life.

If blah, anxious, depressed or isolated have become your new normal, let's talk. My style of therapy is relational, warm, respectful, and oriented toward supporting change when it's needed. There's not one way to do therapy because it's tailored to your needs and goals. Therapy can be a safe place to talk through difficult things, a place to grieve, a place to create plans to support behavior change, a place to develop communication and emotional IQ skills, a place to heal old wounds, a place to figure out how you want to navigate a difficult situation, and a place to figure out who you are and who you want to be.

You catch yourself repeating “it’ll get better, it’ll pass,” but it hasn’t. You’re hoping the tension in your chest, your sweaty palms, and your clenched jaw will finally stop but nothing has changed. You think, “I can just handle it on my own”. Googling “stress”, “overwhelmed”, and “anxiety”, brings more questions than answers. What would actually work to help me find relief? After a few tries, you realize deep breathing isn’t enough. You realize it’s more challenging than you thought. You don’t have to figure it out on your own. You don’t have to feel this way forever.

I am a neurodivergent, queer therapist that works with other diagnosed or suspecting neurodiverse folks with trauma (including religious). The last several years I found myself attracting clients who had been diagnosed with anxiety and or depression, tried many different therapists and styles of therapy but weren't seeing lasting improvements. This has led me to pursue certification in evaluation of ADHD/ ASD and begin treating through a neurodiverse lens. If you suspect you have one or the other or both, lets work together to help you understand yourself. Trauma treatment with a neurodiverse lens is lifechanging!

Since then I have specialized in working with adults and teens addressing ADHD, PTSD, OCD, borderline and narcissistic personality disorders, relationship conflict, and eating disorders.
What is therapy? Across all stages of life, we are faced with struggles and challenges that can hold us back, creating frustration, isolation, anxiety, sadness. Therapy is about “neutralizing the negative,” self learning, and finding ways to re-connect with your inner strength. From dealing with difficulties with focus at school through recovering from traumatic memories - and everything in between - therapy is self learning and self acceptance. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior theories as both together provide balance between emotional regulation and challenging negative thinking.

ADHD, anxiety, or depression got you spiraling? Having a hard time managing your everyday life while the world is on fire? Struggling with communication and balance in your relationships? These are just some of the things you will learn to master in therapy with me. Hi! My name is Max, and I'm a therapist and entrepreneur who has ADHD - and who specializes in working with other ADHDers. It wasn't until I got diagnosed that I truly understood that ADHD touches literally every part of your life - and it became my goal to support others with ADHD in recognizing and harnessing their symptoms to improve their entire quality of life.

I am passionate about working with neurodivergent folks (Autism, ADHD, OCD et al). I also frequently work with couples and polycules, as well as individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or nerdy creatives. When working with couples and relationships, I'm passionate about facilitating improved communication to resolve a recurring area of friction, cultivating awareness of unhelpful patterns so we can break them, and deepening the friendship and intimacy in the relationship. I frequently work with relationships where one or more partner is neurodivergent. I also offer online therapy groups for ADHD and Autistic folks.

I have assisted many parents in coping and understanding children who are suffering from (ADHD-which I also have!), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Trauma, Mood (DMDD), Anxiety and Attachment issues.
Defeat the bad behavior not the kid. Play is the natural language of the child. Rules without relationship equals REBELLION- are terms I have used throughout my clinical career. Parents, remember the behaviors didn't take overnight to appear, nor will they disappear overnight. But with empathy, compassion, consistency equals CHANGE. OCFS specializes in children from 3 to 13 yo. Mobile-Office-Telehealth services available. OCFS is also a proud provider of Medicaid (BCBS, Superior Health, Dells Children).

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
