I have experience working with all ages and for relational and clinical issues including: marriage, infidelity, trauma, grief, sexual abuse, physical abuse, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, divorce, personality disorders, ADHD and childhood concerns.
My goal for the counseling relationship is that you, the client, and I, the counselor, will develop trust with one another, work as a team to define and explore present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work toward those goals. While my counseling philosophies are informed by a biblical worldview, I will in no way pressure or require you to uphold my morals, values, or religious beliefs. As the client I respect your value/belief system and will ask that you inform how that is incorporated into counseling.

My specific areas include: trauma (PTSD, attachment), marriage, parenting, anger management, anxiety and depression, shame, self-esteem, dissociation, among others.
Life can be difficult and often full of struggles, challenges, changes, and the unexpected. We sometimes can keep these events in our minds, whether at the front to consciously influence all of our decisions, or sometimes packed away to protect ourselves. I enjoy working with individuals who know they want different circumstances in their lives and may be unsure how to get there. I believe that our mental wellness is tied to our emotional and physical wellness. Therefore, I am very passionate about health, helping and healing.

We live in a world with set ideals and standards that weigh heavily on us pressing insurmountable expectations that we simply cannot meet. We also live with our own selves and our own minds putting the same demanding and unforgiving pressure on us. So, how might we break free into weightless grace? A jumping off point is beginning with “a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart" (Psalm 51:17). Our brokenness may range from depression, anxiety, grief, bitterness, addictions, shame, mental and emotional anguish and instability and are brought on by different variables such as trauma and attempting to shoulder this weight alone.

Everyone goes through trying times at some point in life. There is no single person in life that has never experienced obstacles, trials, and difficulties in their life journey. Some are small and some are big. During these experiences we often feel hopeless, lost, scared, frustrated or worried. You may even feel alone and believe there is no one who understands.

I have post-grad training in trauma recovery, anxiety issues, relationship struggles and, through my education and personal experience have developed a highly successful approach called Mindset Awareness & Narrative Integration.
We all desire to belong, feel loved, and to know purpose. We long to feel accepted and valued. But sometimes, the way we hold our experiences can lead us to hold onto fears and limiting beliefs about ourselves. Our inner self-talk can lead us to believe lies about ourselves and the world around us. This internal dysfunction can manifest itself in anxiety, depression, anger issues, addictions, and struggles in relationships and our work life. We have over 17 years of education, training, and a lifetime of our own struggles and victories. Let us journey alongside you towards a more fulfilling life of purpose, love, joy, and peace.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
