I have dedicated my professional career over the past 12 years to supporting survivors of sexual violence in various roles.
What is a survivor? Simply put, a survivor is someone who has experienced difficulty in their life. This could be the loss of a loved one, childhood neglect, multiple types of abuse, traumas, or violence. Whatever difficulty is being experienced, my role is to come alongside you, supporting you as you navigate your healing journey. Every individual is unique, so finding the tools, techniques, and therapeutic modalities to best fit for you is part of journey we will take together. I offer teletherapy services only at this time.

Your struggles and challenges don’t define you; your story is so much bigger than whatever brings you to therapy. I'm Antonina Jordt, a Licensed Master Social Worker, and I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to feel discouraged, to be lost. I know what it's like to feel lonely like no one else will understand. I know what it's like to be haunted by the ghosts of your past. I also know what it's like to keep going, overcome, and courageously identify the things that bring you happiness. I believe that you can do that, too.

Sometimes it’s difficult for individuals who have experienced a tragic event or challenging childhood, to come to terms with it as adults. Unresolved issues can originate from the past, and somehow manifest through certain behavior. Even day to day struggles can be a mountain! As a therapist I believe collaborating with the client is important so that we can explore the issues together. Gaining insight is beneficial for a client to understand the root cause of the behavior. Check out my website try4you.net

We all have an innate goodness, natural spontaneity and potential. We tend to disconnect from it in response to painful experiences. It is a natural, even genetic program, to want happiness and joy in life. The frantic attempt to numb or avoid pain, results in denial of joy and natural spontaneity. My commitment as a therapist is facilitation of healing and transformation towards joy and connection. I use a Holistic approach, seek authenticity, and believe that each person's uniqueness can bring inner peace, extend to family, and enhance relationships. The happiness we generate extends to others and then returns.

Thank you for taking the first step in seeking help. Sometimes taking this first step is the hardest for most people to take, so congratulations! My hope is to provide you with a safe place to work on whatever symptoms or concerns you are currently dealing with. I have been in the field for over 15 years and have worked with an array of populations. My experience is in the areas of trauma, PTSD, ADHD, adolescents (at-risk youth), relationship issues, divorce, and law enforcement issues. In addition, I have experience working with veterans to provide a second opinion and/or assessment in support of their VA Disability claims.

I have worked in the field for more than 20 years and have an extensive amount of experience working with Domestic Violence, Family Dynamics, Anxiety, Depression, Addictions, Anger and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
We all need help. Whether it may be learning how to make healthy decisions, reducing anxiety, controlling impulses, learning to assertively communicate or to reduce depressive symptoms. Understanding ourselves, defining our wants and needs can be important in making life-changing choices. In therapy, the goal is to meet you where you are at in life and collaboratively move towards obtaining your goals. Many times we expect immediate results without having to make any internal changes; leaving us unfulfilled, sad and anxious. The changes begin within ourselves to see desired responses from others.

I seek to provide a safe, encouraging, non-judgmental, Christian atmosphere where people can heal and feel empowered. I believe that God designed people to heal and live in harmony, but sometimes life's problems and past experiences get in the way. Traumatic experiences and/or destructive attitudes, addictions, or behaviors can have a detrimental impact on all aspects of life. I use EMDR, a remarkably effective and proven treatment for quickly healing old wounds and helping people embrace their own spiritual and emotional strengths.

Human interaction can be difficult, both interpersonal and intrapersonal. Change is a difficult process, but may be attainable. Lasting change requires: desire, awareness, education, and committed, consistent, constant effort towards the goal. I assist individuals and couples in identifying their position in life, and support the formulation and implementation of a plan of action. I encourage with motivation.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
