I have experience working with clients experiencing grief, secondary traumatic stress; that are victims of crime, abuse or bullying, and those struggling with family or life changes.
I believe that people show their greatest strength and resiliency if they have an outlet for their emotions and a empathetic guide for how to navigate goals, struggles, triumphs and stress. I practice from a holistic approach that aims to help a client identify and utilize their greatest strengths to achieve wholeness and wellness. I have extensive experience working with victims of crime as an advocate and trauma informed therapist. I love working with children and youth (ages 6-18). Additionally I work with adults who are first responders or medical personnel struggling with work related traumatic stress.

I primarily work with adolescents, teens, adults, families and couples on a wide range of counseling issues like: Depression, Anxiety, Self-harm, PTSD, Marital Issues or Affairs, Rape, Grief/ Loss, Divorce, Infertility/Miscarriage, and Child or Adult physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
Each person is unique and so is what they come in with. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. In fact, I pull from different treatment protocols to find what best fits you. This isn't a place where I tell you what to do or give advice, but a place where I join in with you in your process and we collaborate together to meet your needs. My goal is for therapy to be as efficient as possible, working through what we need to each session and maximizing a felt connection by undoing aloneness.

We look at the whole person, not just symptoms. The possibility exists that you do not have a mental illness. Instead, it may be more of a mind-body-spirit incongruence. This can be generated by having a disconnected set of both thoughts and feelings, medication conflicts, deteriorating/ depletion body healing properties, sleep patterns, resulting in an inadequate relief from your life events. It can also be directly related to malnutrition, dehydration issues, and a lack of having a strong spiritual principles in your life. Other factors may be injection injuries, residual trauma, unresolved grief issues, just to name a few.

I have worked extensively with bariatric patients since 2012, supporting them through the pre- and post-surgery process of their weight- loss journeys.
Instead of spending time looking for a therapist, let's get started working on the obstacles that may be hindering your quality of life. I love working with people in their process of self-improvement and helping them tackle obstacles that make them feel stuck or distressed. I focus on providing a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing struggles and successes. I use talk therapy and EMDR therapy to assist people working through difficult issues and to help them increase positive connections in their lives. Give me a call. Let's see if working together would be a good fit for you!

Do you feel heavy with despair, struggling each day to keep your head just above the darkness and dread? Does it take every ounce of energy to stay afloat? Or are you feeling overwhelmed by feelings of helplessness and hopelessness? Do you feel anxious and worry too much about a variety of things or a specific issue? Is there an issue surrounding a lack of faithfulness, money, being a parent, the in-laws, or work? Do you need someone to talk with that will listen? Do you need to better understand and cope with previous trauma? Are you feeling profound sadness after the death of a loved one? I deeply value, understand and listen.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
