We look at the whole person, not just symptoms. The possibility exists that you do not have a mental illness. Instead, it may be more of a mind-body-spirit incongruence. This can be generated by having a disconnected set of both thoughts and feelings, medication conflicts, deteriorating/ depletion body healing properties, sleep patterns, resulting in an inadequate relief from your life events. It can also be directly related to malnutrition, dehydration issues, and a lack of having a strong spiritual principles in your life. Other factors may be injection injuries, residual trauma, unresolved grief issues, just to name a few.

I am passionate about the impact of addiction and trauma on individuals and families, and specialize in helping those struggling with chronic relapse, especially when the traditional treatment models (30 days in residential rehab, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient) haven't helped in the past. The goal of therapy is to achieve sobriety, but more importantly to heal the relationships of the harms caused by years of addictive behavior. My aim is to make your counseling experience as fulfilling and meaningful as possible by creating a customized treatment plan that leads to real, tangible results.

Trauma can be a difficult subject to talk about. Often we minimize or compare our experiences with those of our friends who are somehow more valid. We struggle to name our trauma, but trauma includes impactful events like not having our needs met growing up or a significant break-up. Chronic trauma is stored in the body and can manifest as feeling on edge, feeling overstimulated, or people-pleasing. As a former EMT, I understand how these experiences can manifest somatically. I specialize in complex trauma and attachment wounds, and support individuals through life transitions, grief, medical trauma, chronic illness, and OCD.

Some of my current specialties are working with those currently dealing with anxiety/depression issues, suicidal ideations, self-harm behaviors, chronic pain, chronic illness (autoimmune disorders) and vaccine injuries!.
**I am currently accepting new clients!** My yearning passion and desire has always been to help others, in every way possible, and the characteristics a genuine counselor should have has always come naturally to me. Overall, mental health has such a negative stigma in our society but I have faith this perspective WILL change. My main priority is to walk side-by-side with each client as they navigate their way towards wholeness & healing (mind, body & spirit) while emphasizing the importance of growth and finding/implementing healthier ways to cope/positively maintain their mental health and life.

I provide cognitive behavioral therapy, motivation enhancement, stress management, behavioral sleep medicine, chronic pain management, relaxation training, mindfulness practice, and psychological testing, as well as individual psychotherapy.
I take a whole body approach to health and illness with a focus on how the mind influences the body just as the body influences the mind. Anxiety, depression, and stress can impact health and exacerbate chronic pain, heart disease, insomnia, and other medical problems. However, addressing the emotional aspects of medical conditions can improve quality of life and physical health. Also, psychological principles can help enhance wellness and lead to lasting behavioral changes. As a health psychologist, I can help you emotionally cope with medical conditions, make healthy lifestyle choices, and learn skills to move forward with your life.

It's time to live the life you want to live - and decide what that life looks like. I see adolescents and young adults (13-35) and specialize in anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues (including identity and family conflict), eating disorders, and chronic illness. Sometimes this might mean learning and practicing new skills to help you manage problems and obstacles; other times it may mean really exploring within yourself. Frequently, it means recognizing that negative thought patterns are getting in your way - and we can work together to find individualized solutions for you!

I am passionate about helping people overcome their struggles and find hope, strength, peace, and solutions. I believe that people are innately capable and good, and I work with clients to help them access the capacity to heal. I believe in the healing power of relationships, and I work with clients to develop and improve those relationships so that they can provide support, connection, compassion, and safety as they struggle to overcome life challenges, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other struggles. I also believe that, for some, healing relationships that have suffered pain and betrayal is critical to long-term recovery.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
