Providing a safe space for clients to reflect on the past while working toward future goals is critical in the work I do. I take pride in building relationships by listening to each individual's story and empowering them to re-frame their narrative and work toward healing on their terms and timelines. I specialize in working with teens and adolescents, individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, and also those who have experienced trauma or are working through grief and loss.

If you are looking at this website maybe it is because it feels like something is missing, or the knot in your stomach is telling you something isn’t quite right. Maybe your chest is tense or your throat is tight and you really are struggling to figure out the reason. If this sounds like you, therapy might be exactly the starting place to understand the messages your body and mind are sending you. Therapy is a partnership that requires commitment from both therapist and client and I want my clients to know that I am fully invested in the process. I will continually strive to learn and grow alongside you.

No matter your age, you may have trauma that needs to be addressed in order to find the quality of life you want. Life may be filled with stress and anxiety, or you may just feel like you don't belong. What about your walk with God? Are you struggling to know His plan for your life or plan steps to reach your goals and dreams? Relationally, there may be something that seems to be separating a couple rather than helping them come more together. Or a family is experiencing struggles that needs someone to help guide them through exercises to find peace again.

I believe therapy should provide anyone the space they need to identify, process, and treat the problems they face in day to day life. We are all equipped with the tools we need to succeed and find wholeness - but sometimes even the strongest people need a little help working through challenges in life. As a former school counselor, I have experience working with children learn to deal with anxiety, anger management, depression, grief, and self-esteem. By providing a safe empathetic environment, we can build healthy coping skills.

If you feel like you're standing on the edge of a life transition and have lost yourself along the way, I'm so glad you're here. Whether due to unhealthy family dynamics, a recent break up, or life just took unplanned turns, feelings of worry, grief, or resentment can take hold. If you are feeling out of control because old strategies for managing life are no longer working and if you want to feel satisfied with the life you're living, feel empowered to be the best version of yourself, and your goal is to be well, let's get started. Transitions are uncomfortable opportunities to re-design the life you want.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
