I am Rebeca Mata, founder of Mata Counseling Services in Flower Mound. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with extensive experience working with children/teens and adults with diverse issues- specifically trauma. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My compassionate team provides professional individual counseling to children and adults who are survivors of trauma and/or experiencing a wide array of issues, including but not limited to, depression, self-harm, anxiety, grief, anger, self-esteem, and relationships.

My goal is to cultivate a warm and inviting atmosphere, judgement free, and focused completely on your needs. Primarily, I work with adults who are going through life transitions, adult ADHD, and identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). Through our work together, I'd like to help you navigate the difficulties of life by discovering that you are capable.

Our current and past life circumstances can often leave us with feelings of stress, anxiety, and sadness. These emotions can be confusing and difficult to manage and process. My goal is to come alongside clients to reach personal goals, using warmth, understanding, and acceptance. I will work with you, with you in the driver’s seat, to set goals, explore and gain understanding of yourself, process your emotions in a safe space, reframe negative beliefs about self, and find solutions that work for you. I enjoy working with clients with a variety of concerns including general anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

My ideal client is a person who is motivated to work at being their best self, whatever that looks like to her/him/them; someone who is interested in developing a strong therapeutic alliance and is willing to consider 'non-conventional' therapeutic interventions if the situation warrants; and someone who won't allow temporary barriers or circumstantial ickiness to get in the way of them/him/her reaching a state of BadAssery!

I have extensive experience in a variety of therapeutic techniques (including EMDR, Gestalt, and Christian Healing Prayer) to help you heal emotional wounds and broken relationships of the past that are still influencing your life decisions, as well as the way that you feel in the present.

These challenges and adversities are essential to the human experience, as is the need for support, resources, and resilience. Kristen is a compassionate and dedicated licensed professional counselor associate who is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can heal and grow. Kristen holds a master’s degree in counseling and development from Texas Woman’s University. She is a certified professional school counselor and elementary teacher in Texas. Kristen has a deep understanding of the unique challenges children, adolescents, and their families face today.

I work with adults and I specialize in anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and/or interpersonal relationships. My approach to therapy is holistic, which allows me to provide a safe space in which my clients can explore and accept who they are. To facilitate this process of self-discovery, I have a non-directive and supportive manner that encourages openness and trust in the therapeutic relationship. I honor all cultural and spiritual backgrounds, and I am sensitive to LGBT individuals.

I work with my clients to build confidence and autonomy in my sessions to speak freely. No struggle is too big or too small. We work on creating larger goals at first, while also looking into smaller steps to reach those larger goals. As we explore your grief together I hope that we can start to make sense of your loss and find new ways to feel connected to your loved one. I work with adults and teens struggling with grief/loss, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. In my office you will process emotions as well as develop new skills. My experiences in the public education system as a crisis counselor allow me unique insight into school and parenting issues. I am also EMDR trained
