I incorporate holistic psychotherapy approaches with a trauma-informed lens, infusing knowledge from other modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma.
My counseling approach centers on my belief in the radical power of connection and the miracle of human potential. I've witnessed transformations that occur when embodying a heart-centered connection with my clients. In session, I will reflect your inner experience with skill, curiosity, and compassion and we'll shine a light on any shadows ready to be witnessed on the path to your authentic self. Your experience will be honored every step of the way as we lean into you and all of your parts. Through the embodiment of experience and self-awareness we will embark on your healing journey to a place of self-love and acceptance.

Expert assessment & testing, individual & group psychotherapy, TheraFit, Sexual Health & Wellness, SHAW101, sex addiction recovery, partner recovery, drug/alcohol addiction recovery, chem/sex recovery, LGBTQI+ Affirmative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and functional health & wellness for the recovering individual, partner/spouse, & family.
After battling addiction for many years, I discovered a new way to live through psychotherapy, the 12-steps, physical fitness, & spiritual practice. Ramtha said, "Your greatest accomplishment in life will be living through it." Today, living is my way of life. Today, I can look at myself in the mirror without shame, guilt, sadness, & self-hatred. I can appreciate my past & not run from it. I can form meaningful loving relationships with others because I have first learned how to love myself. I have learned how to overcome obstacles and cope with worry, anxiety, & depression. I have learned to enjoy every moment, good or bad...

My ideal client is a preteen to young adult facing challenges like emotional regulation, low self-esteem, or trauma recovery. They may struggle with intense emotions, negative thinking patterns, or relationship difficulties. Their goal is to develop healthier ways of thinking and coping, whether recovering from a crisis or maintaining their mental health. They seek therapy to better understand themselves, build resilience, and create a more balanced, fulfilling life. They are motivated to learn and grow, wanting to break free from old patterns and move toward a healthier future.

First and foremost, it takes so much strength to reach out for help and I am glad you are here. It may have taken you a while to get here - maybe your undiagnosed ADHD put it off, or a people-pleasing part of you has put others before yourself, or a perfectionist part that felt bad that you couldn't "fix it" on your own. I believe seeking therapy and inner healing can hold joy and humor as deeply as it can confront and hold pain. My hope is to create a non-judgmental, secure space for you to safely embrace every part of you. Through it all, I will be there alongside you to remind you that you don’t have to carry it all on your own.

We are a multiethnic and multiracial group practice that centralizes care for BIPoC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Clients who come to us are working though life challenges related to their identities. They are often in a process of self-exploration, working to make sense of their place and identity in the world where they are made to feel like "the other" and have been marginalized, traumatized, and blatantly microaggressed. We recognize the importance of finding providers who get it, from a shared and lived experience. Here, our aim is connect communities of color and queer communities with providers of color and queer providers.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
