My specialties are in trauma, anger management men's issues, and a variety of other diagnoses.
For me, the ideal client comes motivated and seeking change in their life. The focus is on the client and what they would like to change. It could be relationship issues, communication, self-esteem/self-confidence, or a variety of other issues, as long as they are willing to change things. I think most clients may come in with a misunderstanding that we are responsible for their change, in actuality it is they who use the tools given. The client should be allowed to establish their own goals, big or small. The client is usually in a need of support, listening, and understanding. Change is powerful and up to the client.

Please note: I am providing telehealth only at this time. Say no and mean it! Learn to believe in yourself! Our own thoughts/beliefs can cause us to feel ineffective or incapable. Struggling with anxiety, anger or family of origin difficulties(controlling or distant parents), low self esteem/self worth and toxic family systems can affect our ability to see ourselves realistically or be self critical. This can negatively affect our mood. You can learn to control anxiety and thoughts with techniques, practice, changing your self talk and addressing beliefs about yourself.

My working background includes addressing self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, grief, family issues, anger management, ADHD, life transitions, and PTSD.
Sometimes we find ourselves questioning the deeper meaning of our lives, feeling overwhelmed, or disconnected from our true selves. Reflections like these often mark the beginning of a journey towards growth and healing. I focus on creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your present feelings and how they influence your behaviors. Other approaches I utilize in helping you navigate daily challenges involve identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors, as well as reframing them.

*CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* Personal issues are similar to having physical issues in that, if left untreated, they will not "go away". Maybe you have tried everything you can think of and life feels like it's just getting worse. Maybe it's time for an outside perspective. Seeking help is a decision that will truly benefit you and help make changes for you to lead the happier, healthier life that you desire and envision. If you would like to improve your self-esteem, overcome depression, reduce anxiety .and fears, learn stress and anger management skills, improve communication

Counseling is a process in which the client and the counselor come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systemic fashion toward realizing those goals. I have worked with clients on a variety of issues and have specialized in helping those with depression, anxiety, anger, codependency, sexual addictions, and sexual identity issues. I see such issues as symptoms of something deeper and my goal is to work with you to uncover those root issues.

I earned a PhD in Marital and Family Therapy with a minor in Psychology in addition to a Master's degrees in behavioral science. Having practiced for 34 years, doing over 51,000 sessions in my career, I have accumulated extensive experience in working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, anger and grief, along with the stresses of everyday life. As a certified hypnotherapist and teacher of those skills, I find hypnosis very useful in the treatment of a number of issues including, PTSD, addictions, and anxiety. New research is showing marked improvement in some cases of IBS with hypnotherapy.

You’re the family’s mastermind, juggling not just the home and probably another full time OUTSIDE-of-the-house job. Managing everything from the never-ending 'what's for dinner?' to family appointments, you end up feeling overlooked and empty (and maybe a little resentful)! You tirelessly keep plates spinning, just longing for a moment to truly breathe & be heard WITHOUT being named “Nag of the Year” because of repeating yourself. Imagine this: you're no longer just 'herding cats' but thriving, feeling valued, respected & effectively communicating with your loved ones— making you the heart of the home and not just its manager.

My practice is primarily family therapy where multiple family members participate. The majority of the families I work with have at least one, if not many, of the following diagnoses: AD/HD, oppositional defiant disorder, selective mutism, learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, pragmatic communication, etc), social communication disorder, autism, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and/or bipolar disorder. I actively use Accelerated Resolution Therapy(ART) to help people gain relief from trauma and persistent unwanted thoughts. I also offer comprehensive reports for social security applications.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
