I provide evaluations for children and adults to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment/educational recommendations. The process of assessing and evaluating a person's unique needs, whether those needs are posed by attention deficits, developmental delays, or learning disorders, helps them get on the road to academic, career and personal success. A psychological/neuropsychological evaluation involves assessing problem-solving skills, academic achievement, and social/emotional development through the use of standardized tests. Once you know how you/your child's brain "works," you can find the right support and treatment.

I view counseling as a partnership between the client and myself. I see my role as enabling people to explore ways to heal from emotional hurt, to discover pathways toward more effective and positive ways of thinking, and to adopt helpful patterns of behavior. Through counseling, I help people recognize their strengths; encourage individuals to take responsibility for their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors; and assist people in making and implementing effective decisions.
Using an integrative approach to counseling, the techniques I use are cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, solution-focused, and interpersonal. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and family system theories.

When imagining my ideal client, I don't think about issues or a niche, I think about our connection. Connection is truly the foundation of a therapeutic relationship that results in the best outcomes for the client. Making a connection with a clinician who can hear you and the issues you would like to work on is an important step in making whatever changes you would like to see take place in your life. Taking the first step to investigate this connection, through a free 15 minute phone call would be the best way for us to evaluate this together!

Who among us hasn't felt out-of-sync, overwhelmed or alone? It's not a matter of if something hits us, but when, and I'm not being pessimistic. What determines how well we ride out a crisis is how many healthy coping skills we learn through our life transitions. Even a loving family can’t teach what it doesn’t know. I want clients coming to therapy with me to know that therapy is not about changing you, but about evolving into your more authentic self, dropping unhelpful thinking habits that keep us imprisoned in old hurts, and learning to forgive ourselves & others for not knowing any better. “When we know better, we do better.”

I quickly realized that many women were overwhelmed, stressed out, depressed, and anxious but had no outlet to talk about it.
More and more I see women who are truly "doing it all" They might work full time, take care of the kids, and manage the house while dealing with a partner who doesn't appreciate how hard it is to live up to almost impossible standards. Sometimes it's stay at home moms who do a ton of work but don't feel appreciated for all that they do and feel isolated from others. I also see so much Anxiety. It seems as if Covid brought everyone's anxiety out of hiding. Things that we never worried about before are now overwhelming. Social Anxiety is also increasing due Covid related isolation. You are not alone with these feelings.

I believe that hope for improvement or personal growth requires two things. The first is willpower, or motivation for change. If you're considering therapy, you probably already have that. The second is Waypower, or clarity on what the path forward looks like. If you know you want to make some changes but you're not sure how to get there, that's where I can help. If you are looking for relief from symptoms of anxiety or depression...if you are navigating a major life transition and it feels harder than you think it should...if you are feeling "stuck"... or your relationships are not quite what you want them to be, therapy can help.

Life throw us challenges, big and small. And sometimes we need someone to help us along the way. Are you someone who is struggling with depression, anxiety, perinatal/postpartum, fertility issues, or low self esteem/self worth? Maybe you're struggling in your marriage/relationship or in relationships in general. Or maybe you're going through a life transition that isn't what you expected and/or is challenging. Either way, you deserve brighter days and a quality of life that is worth living.

Someone once asked me, "Ashley, what is the number one thing that brings people to counseling?" I laughed and answered, "PEOPLE. People bring people to therapy!" We've all heard that adage: "People go to therapy for the people in their life that WON’T go to therapy”, and it's funny because it's absolutely true! As a professional counselor, I have never met someone who didn't have a story. Everyone has PEOPLE! Everyone has family struggles and relationship issues. Everyone has trouble processing emotions when they feel overwhelmed. Everyone needs someone to confide in and feel safe with, and that's what therapy can be for you.
