I have always had a passion for working with kids and teens, and I truly enjoy every connection I make with my clients. I believe everyone is capable of greatness and has all the strengths and resources they need inside. My job is simply to provide a safe, warm space where they can feel comfortable being themselves, and together we discover ways to meet their goals. I have experience working with all ages, but I primarily work with ages 8 to 18. I help kids and teens with problems of depression, anxiety, anger, bullying, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ issues, behavior problems, relational problems, school issues, and grief/loss.

Each person possesses a unique healing power and intelligence that resides within and guides their distinctive, mysterious, and evolving growth path. My approach to therapy honors an individual’s ability to connect with their inner wisdom, which leads to their unique healing power. Knowing that mind, body, and spirit are intimately interconnected and are essential aspects of each of us, I honor the whole person and consider mind, body, and spirit in an integrative approach to promote resilience and well-being.

My practice focuses on treating children and teens with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity, and behavioral disorders. Play therapy is my primary tool to help children cope with issues as they grow and develop. Although the child is my client, I work to provide education and support to parents, as the child's primary support system.

For the last 30 years I've been privileged to work with courageous clients as they face traumatic life events, stand up to addictions, grieve betrayals and losses, and find freedom to live a more enjoyable confident life. I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to enter into a counseling process with a commitment to growth and change. The counseling process takes a lot of work and determination but I have seen long lasting results as clients have faced uncomfortable feelings and beliefs and literally rewired their brains! I can't imagine a more rewarding job.

I work with everyone from young children to adults who are young at heart. We are all human. We have a need to grow, to change, to be validated in who we are no matter what step we are at. That does not mean we get left at that step; it means we acknowledge where we are at, so we know where we want to be. As a human, your problems and life hurdles will always be a part of life. You may be struggling to figure out what you will be doing in the next five years, or just the next five minutes of your life. That will never change. What can change is how you view the obstacles in your life.

She will develop a treatment plan with you to help you facilitate behavioral changes that more successfully meet your goals. Sandhya will help you look at the ways you have been currently coping with life’s problems and help you to develop new strategies from a strengths-based perspective. 

I believe that everyone is individual, and that one type of therapy does not work for everyone. I am highly trained in many modalities including Traditional Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and many others. My personal belief is that the most important part of therapy is meeting someone where they are emotionally without judgment! I specialize in Christian counseling while working with preteens, adolescents, and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and other mental health issues.
