I specialize in addictions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, women's issues, and spirituality. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist and would be glad to help you and your loved ones grow. I have experienced the pain that an addiction, eating disorder, and relationship issues can cause and I want you to know there is hope. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral, brief solution focused therapy, Emotional Transformation Therapy, EMDR, and understanding to help my clients live the best life possible.

I have always had a passion for working with kids and teens, and I truly enjoy every connection I make with my clients. I believe everyone is capable of greatness and has all the strengths and resources they need inside. My job is simply to provide a safe, warm space where they can feel comfortable being themselves, and together we discover ways to meet their goals. I have experience working with all ages, but I primarily work with ages 8 to 18. I help kids and teens with problems of depression, anxiety, anger, bullying, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ issues, behavior problems, relational problems, school issues, and grief/loss.

I have extensive training in play therapy and am an APT Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Animal-Assisted Therapy, and sand tray work.

The challenges facing children and teens today are exceptional, as well as navigating parenting in a world bound with pressures from every area of life. Families, more than ever, struggle to stay steady, stay grounded, and stay consistent, while raising little humans to succeed in our society. As a child therapist, former teacher and parent of five myself, I realize all too well what the issues are and how children and families can be supported through counseling. Building relationships through play therapy, narrative therapy, as well as with families is the key to success in my practice.

Christi Moreno is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Comfort and Joy Therapy. She received her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP program and enjoys working with children (7+), adolescents, and adults of all ages. She enters every counseling relationship with a person-centered approach and uses a variety of counseling techniques and theories as appropriate for specific client situations. Techniques and theories could include elements from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Adlerian Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, DBT, Art Therapy, and many others.

My practice focuses on treating children and teens with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity, and behavioral disorders. Play therapy is my primary tool to help children cope with issues as they grow and develop. Although the child is my client, I work to provide education and support to parents, as the child's primary support system.

My services are provided exclusively by TELE-HEALTH I am a mental health professional with 30 years of experience. I graduated from Psychology School in 1995 and since then have worked as a psychotherapist providing my services for individuals, couples, families and groups.  In 2008 I obtained a Master's (M.Sc.) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. Since then, I have been working under my LMFT #201365 license in Texas. Throuhgout all my years of professional experience my passion has been helping and supporting my clients while they overcome their challenges in their lives.

My goal is to help you feel safe as you discuss your most difficult and emotionally charged thoughts and feelings. l am excellent at identifying the deeper issues and I give homework that is focused on symptom relief. Arguments and heated discussions between two or more people allow me to see and understand the underlying dynamics that keep people stuck. I am good at separating the issues and empowering each individual which allows the relationship to grow and change in a more satisfying way.

I have been licensed as a counselor in Texas since 2008.I am a licensed psychologist and licensed professional counselor supervisor. I specialize in treating adolescents and families with various issues, such as anger, behavior problems, and relational difficulties. Given my nearly 13 years of experience in the counseling field, I am comfortable utilizing an eclectic approach to treatment, based on the individual needs of the client.
