My practice is focused on the adult and young adult population and all of the life issues that accompany these age groups. These include issues of parenting, relationships, depression, life transitions, personality disorders, divorce, self image and self esteem issues. Identity concerns are also prominent in the young adult populations well as educational and career concerns. my practice philosophy is a comprehensive one and geared toward the needs of each client. I use psychodynamic and object relationship theories as well as solution focused and self management techniques. I provide couples counseling as a means toward conflict resolution. I have experience working with the adolescent population.

As a native Houstonian, a proud University of Houston graduate, and founder of Big State Counseling PLLC, I am deeply rooted in serving those in our community. My expertise includes over 20 years of experience in the mental health field in a variety of settings (private clinics, autism center, juvenile justice centers, behavioral health/psychiatric hospital, cancer hospital, grief center). In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am a School Psychologist/Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) in Houston-area public schools.

My name is Rhabia Junaid and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated with a Master's degree in Counseling from Houston Baptist University, and I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston - Clear Lake.

I have been a mental health and addictions psychotherapist for the past eighteen years. During this time I have worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings with children, adolescents and adults. Much of my adult work has been dedicated to working with women with a variety of issues but heavily oriented around those originating in trauma. I work with PTSD, mood disorders, couples issues, and parent-child issues. I have developed skills in working with parenting, addictions, relationship building and conflict resolution and particularly building and rebuilding attachment. I have also been involved in training, consulting, and supervision over the years.

I specialize in helping individuals and couples with relationship difficulties. With respect and warmth, I challenge clients to grow. My hope is to help people bring to awareness the issues with which they are struggling, help them discern their own path of meaning, and provide tools and support in achieving those goals. I combine the use of hands-on scientific methods with an intuitive client-centered approach. My goal is to help people achieve change and maintain it over time.
