Using a combination of EMDR and somatic techniques, we’ll work through the thoughts and feelings that might be holding you back.
Welcome, sweet soul. If you’re a South Asian woman who feels torn between staying true to yourself and fitting into the expectations of others, you’re not alone. Many of us find ourselves sacrificing authenticity for the sake of attachment and being liked in our relationships. As a Pakistani Muslim therapist, I’m here to help you navigate these challenges. We’ll work together to understand these feelings and use techniques like EMDR and somatic practices to help you reconnect with who you truly are. Let’s find a balance where you can feel authentic and valued, both by yourself and others.

I use a holistic approach which includes tapping, yoga, guided meditation, art, and somatic parts work.
Do racing, anxious thoughts and restless feelings dominate your day and prevent you from easily making decisions? Does your brain and body feel difficult to manage? Most of my clients struggle with "big" emotions, fear abandonment, and often blow up at others. Drinking, smoking, shopping, and sex is how they often impulsively self-soothe. Relationships are often difficult to create and keep due to past sexual, family, and religious traumas that are coming out as intense thoughts, feelings, and actions that feel hard to stop. If you overthink, feel guilt, shame, self-loathing, and exhaustion most of the time, change is possible.

I offer somatic and mindfulness-based therapies blended with cognitive processing tools to support your healing.
Has your life journey become arduous and painful? When feeling desperate and alone, it is only natural to seek support. I am here to guide you in redefining your core beliefs, so that you may find inner peace, deepen self-worth and develop healthy relationships. I will help you root out the beliefs and perspectives you formed at a young age which may have kept you safe then, but have become unhelpful and maladaptive for your life today.

Every counselor, if they are honest, is seeking a client who is intelligent, funny, motivated, and has strong interpersonal skills. I am happy to work with those people, but I specialize in the more difficult cases. I like working with people who have had bad counseling experiences in the past. Those who know that they need change, but are unsure how to go about making those changes. Counseling is a collaborative relationship. My goal is not to fix your life, but to come along side you and help you move forward one step at a time.

Since the devastating loss of my father to cancer and suicide, I’ve been ignited with a passion to uplift and support men of color who face emotional pain and to empower survivors of suicide loss. As a grief companion who understands the depth of loss, I'm deeply committed to supporting you through the challenging path of grief. I understand that grief is complex and deeply personal, and I believe in the power of awareness, education, and authentic connection to help you navigate this healing journey.

I gained resilience, courage, strength, and confidence by allowing another to witness my story. It was because of this that I became a therapist. I desire to help you with navigating the challenges, difficulties, and burdens that life brings. To be a witness to the stories that you have lived and experienced. To reassure you that you are not alone in the struggle. To allow you to understand that purpose and meaning in your life can be discovered again in every season. To provide a safe space where you can feel seen, heard, and received just as you are. To give you the opportunity to experience the healing and growth that you desire.

Are you trying to handle anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or simply feeling overwhelmed? Your lived experiences have a huge impact on your mental health. Therapy is a place to process and heal. It takes hard work, bravery, and patience to go through all the heavy "stuff" that you carry around on a daily basis. You do not have to be alone in the process of your healing. The most important thing to me is that my client feels no judgment, is heard, and can trust that I am going to work just as hard as they are to reach their goals.

I help clients gain the confidence to speak from the heart, live authentically & have peace releasing some of the emotional responsibility they carry. I’m no stranger to working with clients who struggle with anxiety, attachment/relational trauma, shame and just want to be free to be themselves. Over the years I’ve found that most of the anxiety issues I’ve worked with started from a life experience or circumstance. When clients come to therapy they begin to understand that anxiety isn’t necessarily who they are, but their anxiety helped them adapt to some very tricky people, environments and situations.

This approach focuses on whole-person healing and includes looking at how your body feels ( somatic therapies), how you think (cognitive-based therapies), and techniques to stay present and grounded in the moment (mindfulness).
I see you. As you browse through countless profiles searching for relief, I recognize the work you’ve put in thus far to manage the problems that brought you here. I also understand how exhausting doing that work can be when you’re doing it alone. I am passionate about creating a welcoming and safe space where you can find the extra support you need to grow and heal. Together, we can initiate a transformative process and work to turn your pain into a source of self-understanding, resilience, and purpose.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
