My strategies adapt to the person, but I work extensively with EMDR, DBT and CBT skills.
WE OFFER PHONE AND VIDEO SESSIONS. Able to offer ADHD and personality testing. Sometimes the hardest step is the first one, and part of my goal is to ensure that you feel safe in the therapeutic relationship. Without that feeling of trust, it can be hard to gain ground on the changes you want to see. My clients would describe me as tough and goal driven - I strive to ensure we are working on your goals both in and out of the session (my clients may also describe the homework I send their way). Our offices also provide ADHD, Personality (Diagnosis) and Autism testing.

While I primarily utilize IFS Techniques, EMDR, CBT, and Mindfulness Techniques, I recognize being flexible depending on client needs is mandatory.
Are you realizing the things that have happened in your life are holding you back? It's hard to relax. Life feels more black than white. You're told you worry too much, and you know that's right, but you don't know how to stop. Often, trauma from the past can be a large factor in this. I enjoying working with clients who are hoping to "reset" their automatic responses by addressing past and recent hurtful events. I use a "bottom up" approach primarily, meaning I focus on the pain that the body and mind are still holding on to unconsciously. Together, we'll work to rewire those automatic beliefs and triggered responses.

Using a combination of EMDR and somatic techniques, we’ll work through the thoughts and feelings that might be holding you back.
Welcome, sweet soul. If you’re a South Asian woman who feels torn between staying true to yourself and fitting into the expectations of others, you’re not alone. Many of us find ourselves sacrificing authenticity for the sake of attachment and being liked in our relationships. As a Pakistani Muslim therapist, I’m here to help you navigate these challenges. We’ll work together to understand these feelings and use techniques like EMDR and somatic practices to help you reconnect with who you truly are. Let’s find a balance where you can feel authentic and valued, both by yourself and others.

I am EMDR certified and always eager to use it to address a wide range of issues.
Therapy is about processing, healing, and making healthy changes in behavior. It is a great sign of growth when you no longer feel the need for therapy sessions; it means you were successful in making the changes you wanted. I take this approach to the therapeutic process to make sessions the most effective and most efficient they can be for you.

I am Gordon Niel Climer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 7 years of experience in behavioral health. I specialize in working with individual adults and couples who are navigating issues that create stuck places. I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Southern California. I was drawn to social work because three issues kept me up at night: poverty, mental health, and substance abuse. Feeling inadequate to address these challenges in the community motivated me to pursue this field.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
