Have you seen you a change occur in your child or teen and are left in confusion? Are you concerned about your child’s behavior? I will work collaboratively with you and your child on solutions to the concerns. Sessions with me involve movement and play. Your child will be given a space to call their own, a space that is safe for creativity and active play. Together, through creative projects and moving around outside, we can find that sense of self again. Sitting in a therapy room talking can get monotonous, so let’s bring life to the therapy room. Let’s let our creative and active sides strike that match of hope and joy again.

In therapy, we use evidence-based practices (like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, etc.
When life gets overwhelming, who do you talk to? Really, truly talk to? Is there a space where you can speak freely about your anxieties, life stressors, and your innermost thoughts and feelings? A place where you can celebrate big moments while also processing letdowns? A place where you can share anything without fear of judgment? If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” then I would love to talk with you about counseling. There is something enormously freeing about having a person and a place to share the things that tie up your mind and tangle your heart.

Clinically, my approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, constructivism, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.
Do you feel your vision for your life has become clouded? Our life journey consists of events that have formed our beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world. Our stories may include triumphant victories, gratifying accomplishments, and moments of love, connection, and warmth. However they may also include pain and trauma, self-destructive behavioral patterns, and other narratives that do not serve us well. I believe the safety and comfort of a collaborative, validating, nonjudgmental relationship can lead to significant insight, healing, and growth.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address negative thinking patterns when it comes to anxiety, grief and depression.
I have always had the conscious goal of supporting others with being able to overcome their hardships and internal challenges that prevents them from being successful. I am a firm believer that in life we have all experienced some type of challenge that will impact our thoughts and emotions. For some people the challenge is more difficult than others and they will experience greater hardship and internal challenges that will send them on a spiral to the unknown. Being a therapist has always been a desire of mine to support others with understanding their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors associated with how they feel.

Additionally, I pull from the cognitive-behavioral approach to help clients understand how their beliefs and behaviors are intertwined.
WE OFFER PHONE AND VIDEO SESSIONS. Able to offer ADHD and personality testing. Trading authenticity for safety leads to sacrifices in your life, resulting in anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, etc. One of my goals is to guide you in a daily practice of letting go of who you feel you are supposed to be and embrace who you are. At the end of the day, I want you to feel heard. Through my work with grief, trauma and abuse, I have discovered how necessary it is to live authentically and be able to trust those around you. It is crucial for clients to feel as though they have a part in their therapeutic process and recovery

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
