One of the most important factors when working with individuals and their families is providing a collaborative, relational model.
I enjoy working with children and adolescents of any age. Listening to children and teenagers is so important as they often can tell us what we need to know to support them. I use both talking and play to facilitate connection and communication. Interpersonal experiences affect our relationships and the way in which we interact with others. I have a strong background in family systems, school collaboration and developmental and attachment theory which is instrumental in my work with clients. I also work with families to facilitate communication when there is a disruption in the family system due to divorce or adoption.

I completed the NARM (Neuro-Affective Relational Model) practitioner training in 2019 to address Complex PTSD.
Congratulations on your journey towards healing and a full life. I invite you to learn a bit more about my practice and the path I have taken to join you. I strive to provide a safe environment for clients to become in touch with their agency, while experiencing difficult life situations. Most of my work is done in the context of the parent/child relationship, when working with young children and families. With individuals and couples, I allow clients to identify their inner strength and insight to foster personal growth, or develop deep meaningful relationships.

The search for a therapist can be hard and at times exhausting. Trauma, among other stressors in life, can have a profound impact on a person. Those who experience oppression and historical marginalization can further be affected. I am passionate about creating a safe, judgment-free, and nurturing space with respect to your identity and values. I believe in creating authentic connections with clients and have a passion for working with those who have experienced struggles related to cultural identity, life transitions, trauma, family conflict, LGBTQIA2S+ matters, relational issues, depression, anxiety, and daily stressors.

At the heart of my work, I approach therapy from a relational, psychodynamic therapy model, which means I believe the relationship between the client and therapist can be a transformative component in the growth process. I am a LPC combining modern neurobiology with holistic somatic healing, the psychodynamic therapeutic relationship, and body-based practices to create an experiential awakening on a bodily, psychological and emotional level. I work from a somatic-centered therapeutic approach, meaning that I believe that the body tells the stories and narratives. For more information, my website is: www.kellypastori.com

There are many reasons you might be seeking therapy: from healing from past traumas to coping with current stressors, navigating mental health and relational challenges to exploring deeper levels of meaning.
Struggle is a part of life, but our struggles can often make life feel overwhelming, stifling, or meaningless. It’s all too easy to get stuck in patterns of living and relating that feel like endless repetitions of old models that seem to generate more problems than they solve. Whether your goal is healing from traumas, improving relationships, addressing complex mental health concerns, or striving for a deeper and more meaningful understanding of life and yourself, I believe that therapy can be an invaluable tool for exploration, healing, and growth.

My approach is solution-focused, relational, and holistic.
For those experiencing a difficult season or life transition, talking with someone about the challenges you face is one of the healthiest decisions you can make for yourself and your loved ones. At times, life is messy! Talking it through and getting an outside perspective other than friends and family can help. In addition to counseling individuals, I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. I provide guidance to those that struggle in many areas of school; emotional regulation, self-esteem, peer relationships, ADHD, behavioral issues, and anxiety to name a few.

The focus of my doctoral program was largely devoted to improving Relational Competencies for individuals, couples, and families.
Everyone experiences normal ups and downs throughout their lives. Sometimes, however, these episodes become more than we can handle alone. It is often not easy to ask for help but it can be the first step toward healthier functioning, improved relationships, and personal growth. Over the past 20 years I have helped many people navigate through life's challenges to lead more productive and fulfilling lives. Together, in a safe and supportive environment, we can uncover destructive patterns, identify strengths, and develop healthier ways of coping.

Some of what we at PCC specialize in: Sandtray, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Circle of Security, Theraplay (level 1 trained), AutPlay, TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention), Play Therapy, Animal Assisted Counseling, & Supervision .
Pflugerville Counseling Center offers a wide range of counseling services to individuals, families, couples, and children/teens. Though each of us specializes in different areas, we all hold a belief that counseling is most helpful when it is about having a safe relationship to more fully explore, understand, and accept our authentic self. We believe that everyone has a story and the more we can own our stories, the more choice and control we have over writing the next chapters. We all love working with the brain/body/relationship connection we all hold within ourselves and between each other.

Relational Therapists
How does relational therapy work?
Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.
Is relational therapy evidence-based?
Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.
How long are people typically in relational therapy?
Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.
Does relational therapy work?
While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
