If your child is struggling they may be having behaviors that you KNOW are not them but you can't seem to get a handle on. Anxious or traumatized kids are often acting out kids and getting them to talk about the real problems can feel impossible. If you're an adult with trauma you may not have learned how to do that either. You can be better.

I counsel people ages 18 and up experiencing anxiety, depression, fear, grief, relational issues, mood disorders, addictions, long-term illness, and phase of life problems. This is accomplished from a non-judgmental perspective, going at a pace you set. We can use EMDR techniques to increase helpful internal resources and decrease the intensity of emotions and other material from traumatic situations.

My goal is to help people find solutions to problems through caring conversations, biblical insight, experience and professional skills. I especially love to see people grow in awareness of their unique value and in relationships with others. You may be looking for someone with compassion you can confidentially talk with about problems or difficult situation in your life. You may be seeking help to have better relationships with family or friends. Maybe you’ve lost someone that you love through death or a broken relationship.

I believe that everyone has a story and it deserves to be heard. My approach to counseling is to empower the client while maintaining a therapeutic and professional relationship. I believe that the counselor should not work harder than the client and the client should not work harder than the counselor. I will work hand in hand with the client, toward goals that are appropriate to their situation.

I enjoy working with clients that struggle with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse. These clients often simply need to be heard and need assistance talking through the chaos and unease in their minds. I enjoy working with individuals to develop healthy, effective coping skills while identifying unhealthy thought and behavioral patterns.

Most of my internship experience has been in the private practice setting.
