Additionally, my practice is shaped by principles of attachment theory, a psychodynamic understanding of relationships, and family systems theory.
I work with adolescents and adults around areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Through the therapeutic relationship, as well as examining interpersonal relationships and family dynamics, we can better understand painful and difficult experiences. We work to identify motivations, reactions, patterns, and automatic assumptions. This understanding helps gently guide the healing process and empowers the individual to approach their own behaviors with curiosity rather than shame. I have a special interest in working with adolescent girls around issues of self-esteem, anxiety and identity.

Do you struggle with relationships, regulating your emotions, feelings of shame and guilt, and setting healthy boundaries? Do you feel unsafe in relationships, settings, and/or situations and find yourself hypervigilant for threats? You may be experiencing the effects of Developmental/Complex Trauma which typically results from repeated or multiple traumas experienced in childhood. Usually, these are interpersonal traumas where the caregivers unintentionally or intentionally fail to provide secure attachment, safety, and validation which can wire the developing brain mainly for survival rather than for trust in relationships.

You’ve always relied on your perfectionism to excel—in your career, education, or personal life. But now, in motherhood, that same drive is leaving you feeling like you’re constantly falling short. Despite doing all the “right” things—reading the books, following the advice, and trying to balance it all—you still feel overwhelmed, lost, and like you’re failing. You’ve been told you need to “overcome” or “let go” of your perfectionism, but that only leaves you feeling more out of control. The truth is, the rules of modern motherhood are so unrealistic that, no matter how hard you try, it’s impossible to meet every expectation.

You have great value as a person and deserve to feel that. It's completely normal to feel down, afraid, or inadequate. We all feel this way from time to time. The problem comes in when you have no way to work through and let go of difficult or challenging thoughts and emotions. Therapy is a powerful way for you to develop skills and experience healing so you can live the full life you want to live.

I possess a true passion for my work with clients, which is evident in my unwavering commitment to their success. I recognize how terrifying it can be to face deeply rooted issues, so I work hard to establish a safe therapeutic environment with attention to everything from the office experience to how fully present I am in each session. I place premium value on collaborative efforts between clients and therapists, meaning we join together to meet your goals. Real therapy and especially deep personal work is messy and requires vulnerability, trust, and hard work in order to create and maintain life long changes.

I won't listen and sit expressionless, only nodding occasionally during our time together. I am warm but more direct then that. I care deeply about people I work with. I seek to offer real help. I'm empathic, down to earth and passionate helping. We’ll define goals together. You’ll get feedback that’s helpful and sometimes challenging. Often getting to a better place is not all that complicated and therapy doesn't have to be an endless process that grinds on. Anger, anxiety, depression and addictions are some of things I help people with. There are others. Call me if you have questions. My passion is helping you get better now.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
