As an experienced psychologist, my goal is to help you achieve your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't undo difficult circumstances of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges as you create a better future. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and together we will discover the perceptions or behaviors that may be holding you back and help you create more successful life habits. We may employ cognitive-behavioral, somatic, supportive and other approaches tailored to your specific needs in order to facilitate your growth toward a more positive future.

Am I a bad person? This is a question we hear a lot. If you feel lost, drained, stuck, unworthy, and confused, we understand you. At Point of Convergence Therapy, we help people who are hurting and exhausted. This usually comes from complex trauma and branches off into things like anxiety, self-esteem, and identity issues. We know that healing doesn't happen in a vacuum and that people need people. Since finding a therapist can be difficult, we're happy to offer free 30-minute consultations so you can get to know us before committing.

I am an adjunct professor, supervisor, CCTP, and have training in Somatic Experience (SE), Cognitive Process Therapy, and Trauma-Focused ACT.
I specialize in working with adults seeking to heal from relational wounds (divorce, betrayal, abandonment, family of origin trauma, abusive or problematic romantic relationships). My therapeutic philosophy is to increase awareness of your pain points, address them collaboratively, and empower you to move toward healing and resolution through engaged and active treatment. Across my decade experience, I have worked with clients to courageously address what they have been through to get to where they dream of being- a fulfilled, connected, rich, and dynamic life.

It is my honor and life purpose to work with individuals who are struggling from the aftermath of trauma, who have anxiety, and depression, and who need reminders of who they are inherently. My primary focus is to help individuals find what negative meanings/attachments they are still holding on to that need to be let go of or revised in order to heal. It is possible to regain your power after a codependent relationship and learn to embody yourself after trauma. I utilize somatic and process-based techniques as needed for your optimal growth. Allow me to make the space to support you on your healing journey. You are in control!

I like Narrative therapy, chair therapy, role play, EFT tapping, breath work, therapeutic yoga, mindfulness, defining what spirituality means to you, and somatic release.
Grief, stress, and anxiety are apart of our daily lives, some more profound than the others. Wouldn't life be so peaceful if you learned how to manage by learning what works for your needs? Are you ready to tune in to yourself to better relate to those in the world around you? Each of us exist in environments such as the workplace, the home, life with your partner, with your parents, and or with your children. How will you show up?

I utilize Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems techniques, incorporating warmth, humor, and non-judgment with insightful challenges that encourage growth and capitalize on self-acceptance.
Transitioning from what we’ve known our whole life to a new beginning (or even just a new depth) is difficult. It means giving up beliefs or ways of living that didn’t serve us. And when we give up what we’ve known our whole life, it’s hard to envision a new way forward. Sometimes before we can make big changes, we have to understand the past. I believe our bodies hold our stories of struggle and when we don’t fully process what's within us, we can get stuck in our transitions. We will work together to shine a light on life experiences and traumas, and dusty old habits and beliefs that may be holding you back.

My approach is rooted in a holistic and strength-based perspective, integrating modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
My goal: To meet you wherever you currently find yourself. Regardless of how that looks at this moment, it's important to recognize that there's nothing inherently 'wrong' or 'broken' about you. If guilt, shame, and maladaptive behavior overwhelms and persist, it signals a need for change. Whether you're navigating PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, or life transitions, my aim is to guide you in understanding, managing, addressing root causes, and initiating a healing process.

I have specialized training in Trauma and Grief Component Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Somatic Experiencing Therapy and am passionate about staying up to date with evidence based interventions.
Growing numbers of adolescents, adults, and families are dealing with issues stemming from anxiety, depression, lack of connection, finding purpose, grief, and loss of control in an ever-changing world. Therapy can look a lot of different ways, but most importantly it is an hour of time dedicated to getting to know yourself and building a meaningful future.

You wonder if your trauma history such as childhood abuse/neglect, betrayal, medical trauma, loss of a loved one, life-impacting accident, toxic family dynamics, or other event(s) can continue to impact your mental well-being today. You may struggle with overwhelming anxiety, depression, or both. There is a direct link between past trauma and current day impact on your overall wellbeing. As a counselor who specializes in trauma, I understand you need a safe compassionate space to help you untangle your past experiences to find peace.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a way to gently get your nervous system back to equilibrium.
Were you abused, neglected, and traumatized? Were you raised by a tiger mom? Did you raise yourself and everyone else? Do you feel frozen, numb, and disconnected from your body? Do you feel like there's something wrong with you? Do you have a need to be perfect? Do you feel anxious even during downtime? Are you always running and doing and still feel it's not enough? Is food your only friend? Yet, on the outside, you look like the most put-together person. If only people knew what was on the inside.

I help my clients calm their nervous systems and create self awareness through somatic body awareness, EMDR, and mindfulness modalities.
This is your sign that you’re ready to live a life that is true to yourself, working through your past and finding ways to accept and trust yourself. In my office, you have permission to abandon the hustle of life and move slowly, intentionally, and in ways that feel good for you. If sitting in a chair feels stifling, we can take our session outdoors in a walk therapy session. And no need to get all dressed up for our sessions, they aren’t interviews. You can come into session just as you are, after a workout, before work, in sweatpants—there is no requirement for how you have to be.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
