As a Gay Man, it can be difficult to accept oneself due to internal shame and living in a heteronormative society. We learned at a young age how to protect ourselves from stigma and discrimination by numbing pain, overcompensating, misusing substances, and in some cases living a dual life. These strategies once protected us, but now negatively influence our emotions, thoughts, relationships, and view of the world. I help Gay Men who are struggling with their sexual orientation, living in or out of the closet, living with HIV, afraid to disclose their status, in relationship conflict, and more.
